@JohnOinger No, of course not
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@Adaydreambeliever I thought you watched our American Politics

@JohnOinger Americans, both dem and repub both say how biased your media is.. and how corrupt.. the public hears/sees only what business and interested parties allow them to see.. We don't watch that trash.. Most, and I really do mean MOST of the rest of the world DO take an interest in and try to be well informed about matters going on in the world.. so pretty much most Brits are reasonably well informed about what's happening around the world.. It isn't that I take a special interest.. just that we are ALL well informed about most things here..
We see him speak.. and it's reported here..as other world events are..
Americans have a reputation of being insular both mentally and physically.. the repuation is that they don't take any interest in anything that happens outside their own country.. and don't travel.. this would explain why perhaps many Americans really don't know how derogatorily Trump and pretty much everything he does and says are seen worldwide..
FWIW my main source is the Times - a UK publication that reports news and allows readers to form their own opinion.

@JohnOinger she's still upset cause her brits came to take a newly formed country and got their asses kicked
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
@MarineBob dream on, I get tired to explaining to imbeciles with a very poor grasp on reality.. it goes like this.. many, (not all!) Americans are deluded into thinking that they are still a world leader, that they have respect internationally. That people round the world like and respect their nation. Its not been that way in a long while.. Obama began to repair past damage.. things have regressed badly since Trump..
Another delusion Americans, (again some not all) suffer is the delusion that Brits hang on to that.. we don't, we aren't taught about it in school, we don't care. .Why? because it was one tiny war in many that we fought, we fought many, we lost some and won some.. at the time, there is FACTUAL evidence that many BRITS argued for handing the country its independence.. We were under-resourced in a country a long way from home.. we are MINUTE little island... we were maintaining presence, (rightly or wrongly!) in many other nations at the same time, we were fighting other wars.. so under resourced.. you guys had the advantage.. and you had the passion to win.. we perhaps didn't.. and we lost..

You need to get over it.. really you do.. we did, hundreds of years ago.. to bleat on about it after all this time is insane.. but even more insane is to believe WE care.. we didn't and dont. we are allies.. and we moved on.. you need to too.. In fact, as I say, and am tired of saying.. we often use it as an excuse to throw American themed parties.. to celebrate WITH you.. any excuse for a party and a few beers!
Try consulting facts... you will see that this isn't just me saying this.. we just had so many wars, and have SO FUCKING MUCH HISTORY that what happened it but the tiniest blip.. we really cannot care.. it isn't big enough or important enough.. except to you.. we dont' begrudge you your Independence.. it was the right thing to do.. now grow up and get over it!

@MarineBob here my sweet.. fill your boots.. there's a shed load of info all confirming that we don't teach kids here about it.. simply because it was pretty insignificant to us in the scheme of things we are taught about kings and queens, we are taught about some wars but really just a few because there were so many

MarineBob · 56-60, M
Well of course you didn't teach your kids it's okay to lose a war
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
@MarineBob we lost many wars, we have been invaded many times.. I did say this but I suspect, you are an example of how poorly educated some Americans are ... I cite Romans, we do learn about Romans and vikings and OUR history, of which there is a vast amount to get through.. I am afraid the simple reality here is that the history of a country WE started, contributed to then forgot, is really insignificant compared to our own. There's little hope of you understanding this I fear, which just goes to explain why so many Americans are equally ignorant on this point.. they really cannot understand it.. it's beyond their little brains
