When do we get to see President Trump's past tax statements?

What does he have to hide ? 🕵️

I very rarely side with him, but he’s well within his rights not to disclose them. Just because disclosing tax returns has become a standard practice over the last several decades, it’s still not a legal requirement to hold that office. Would I prefer he be transparent? Yes, of course. However, enough people didn’t care in 2016 to get him elected. The bottom line is if it was a vital requirement, it should have been codified into law by now.
@SW-User Actually, Trump initially said he would produce them, as soon as an audit that was preventing it was resolved. First of a series of lies, apparently. And remember, this is the man who demanded his predecessor produce his birth certificate and college transcripts, with “if there’s nothing to hide, what’s the problem ?”

So—what is the problem here ? Why is he telling people to risk being jailed for contempt by ignoring subpoenas, if there’s nothing to hide ?

He’s absolutely lying, and he’s absolutely being a hypocrite in terms of the standard he held President Obama to compared to the standard he holds himself to. Hypocrisy and dishonesty are both fortes of his, so no surprise there. I’m just saying that he’s within his rights to refuse disclosure, because it’s not a legal requirement even though it’s been standard operating procedure for decades. The bottom line is that he and his people are right when they say he doesn’t have to disclose them. The fact that he said he would eventually release them is meaningless, because his words and promises are frequently empty and meaningless. @bijouxbroussard
