Will you pray for Trump ?

One of the country’s most prominent evangelicals and most ardent supporters of President Trump is using his platform to prompt fellow Christians to pray for Trump’s protection against his “enemies” who he seek to “destroy him.”

On his Facebook page, Franklin Graham announced a designated “special day of prayer” for Trump on Sunday, June 2.

“President Trump’s enemies continue to try everything to destroy him, his family, and the presidency,” he said. “In the history of our country, no president has been attacked as he has. I believe the only hope for him, and this nation, is God. This is a critical time for America. We’re on the edge of a precipice. Time is short. We need to pray for God to intervene. We need to ask God to protect, strengthen, encourage, and guide the president.”

All presidents need prayer. The worse they are the more prayer they need, like any sinner. Franklin Graham treads where his father feared to tread - into politics. To pray for a great nation like the USA is a wonderful thing. With the state of the nation as it is, perhaps one should actually ask seriously how the leadership measures up to the standards set down by the New Testament for personal behaviour and begin the prayers at that point. This president is not unique in needing to repent, but possibly unique in being proud of not thinking he needs to: he doesn't try to hide his behaviour as some of his predecessors have done.

@Frank52 But how do people who lay claim to a superior morality reconcile the teachings of their religion with the behaviour of this most amoral of men. This is what grates on me , the sheer hypocrisy of it all.
@RodionRomanovitch if we only prayed for those who "deserve it" no-one would get prayed for

@RodionRomanovitch Alas, I share your despair in this one. However, anyone who claims to be morally superior has not understood the Christian teaching that ALL have sinned and fallen short.

@TopCat But they are not asking you to pray for him , they are asking for you to pray to save him from suffering the consequences of his illegality and immorality.

@RodionRomanovitch That kind of prayer can never be answered except in the working out of true Justice.

@Frank52 Billy Graham was an advisor to Richard Nixon. They shared a disdain for Jews. Just so you know.

@Ynotisay I'll certainly check that out, thanks.
