Clive Palmer (Australia's Trump) Who is laughing now?

Every nation has one. America has Trump. We have Clive Palmer. A fatter, cheesier version of Trump. (If you can believe that) This mining tycoon turned politician did a term as a Senator previously and turned up for a quarter of the votes. This time he started his own party parodying the Trump style pointing out everyone elses flaws , making outrageous statements and vague promises and even running on "Make Australia great." You get the picture.. He fielded candidates nationwide and spent $80 Million on advertising and got.........NOTHING. We may have our problems with politicians. But we do know what to do with an @$$hole when we see one. 馃枙馃槀

What went wrong for Labor?

@Burnley123 A heavily negative campaign run by the Conservatives. Including non existent "Pensioner Tax and Death Tax" ads. Labor went positive and forward looking. Its simpler to scare people that you are going to take things away than to offer possible benefits they dont already have.
That and the Labor leader always had a personal popularity issue.

@whowasthatmaskedman It saddens me that Australia is such a right wing country.

You used to have this egalitarian spirit based on a justified hatred of the British empire but now its really money driven and nationalistic. The immigration hatred is intense even compared to other places.

@Burnley123 I just had a look at how difficult it would be to move across the ditch to NZ. Going to sleep on it.
