Americans, do you support military intervention in Iran?

If you do, please explain under what circumstances you would see it as acceptable and what you think it would achieve.

If they test a ballistic missle, If they attempt stop free trade in the gulf.

If they test a WMD
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@St0ut all good reasons
St0ut · 51-55, M
@HoraceGreenley we should have turned them to glass in 1979
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@St0ut @HoraceGreenley You don't think the previous treaty was working? I thought Iran had stopped developing weapons?
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Burnley123 No. Obama's treaty is not worth the paper it is printed on.
St0ut · 51-55, M
@Burnley123 no the previous testy was not working Acts of aggression by Hamas and hezbollah (both Iranian sponsored paramilitary terrorist units) where not covered by the treaty.

Ballistic missile technologies not covered by the treaty
Etc
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@St0ut I'm in favour of a negotiated peace. I'm cool with reigning in Hamas and Hezbollah but to make it stick you also have to reign in Israel.
St0ut · 51-55, M
@Burnley123 mmmmm no. You don’t get to launch rockets into neighbor hoods and then when the f-16s roll in say how bad Israel is
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@St0ut A better analogy would a scrawny prisoner insulting his burly guard and then getting his neck broken.
St0ut · 51-55, M
@Burnley123 yes because the Iranians are all about human rights in prisons.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@St0ut I don't think they are. Most regimes in that region are awful, including Iran. I can't see how military options will help the people though.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@St0ut Many of the Iranian people hate their government and are educated, progressive, and kinda western in how they work.

Do you think they want the US to bomb everything to 'save' them like they did Iraq? Are you curious about what they want?
St0ut · 51-55, M
@Burnley123 military options are not about helping people

You are clearly for the people who shoot people for dancing and kissing in public
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@St0ut Name one military intervention which helped a country transition to Democracy. Post ww2, I'm struggling to think of one.
St0ut · 51-55, M
@CountScrofula you point is correct but also moot if the regimes performs the actions I described above. That on thier govt.
St0ut · 51-55, M
@Burnley123 did I claim that you spread democracy via a 19 your old and a M4 I said no such thing
MethDozer · M
@CountScrofula No wants to admit that Iran was once very modern, progressive, and westernized until a bunch of us turned them into what they are today.
St0ut · 51-55, M
@MethDozerwe did that? Lol. You are a blame America first person. Got it
MethDozer · M
@St0ut No I am not. Yet our British allies did aid in a regime change. Historical fact.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@St0ut Ballistic missiles? Under what sort of pretense would you invade exactly?
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@QuixoticSoul "Hey look they're brown! GET 'EM!"
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@St0ut [quote]no the previous testy was not working Acts of aggression by Hamas and hezbollah (both Iranian sponsored paramilitary terrorist units) where not covered by the treaty.

The treaty covered nuclear proliferation, not the terrorism stuff (sanctions regarding terrorism stuff remained unaffected). These are separate efforts.

Ballistic missiles are normal battlefield weapons, they aren’t banned by any treaty - even ones Iran isn’t signed to. There is no leg to stand on there.

@CountScrofula Good one :-)
