Judge rules Charlottesville statues as war memorials, protected by state

Snowflakes crushed.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- A judge has ruled that statues of Confederate generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas Stonewall Jackson are war monuments and cannot be removed by the city without approval from the state.

I'd like to see a statue placed next to the confederate generals statues: It would depict African-American slaves escaping on the underground railroad, and finding freedom in the north and Canada. It would show the slave's courage and fortitude making the dangerous journey to freedom, out of the depraved evil of slavery.
