Is it fair to ask about citizenship on the census?

You can only vote on one answer.
They use census information to draw congressional district boundaries.
Since non-citizens can't vote anyway, isn't it fair to know how many there are and where they live?

Of course it is. The Census is about counting CITIZENS, not criminals who shouldn't be here. It's about figuring out the amount of representation and funding for those citizens, things illegals are not entitled to.

I’d like to point out that there are plenty of people who are not actually citizens who are nevertheless living here legally. @AbbeyRhode @Budwick

@AbbeyRhode @Budwick Why shouldn’t illegal immigrants get representation and funding anyway? They pay taxes. Other “criminals” get counted in the census, don’t they?

Taxes are not the defining factor regarding voting rights. Being a legal citizen, of age. We can make up all kinds of rules if you want. Your made up rules are not law.

Non citizens WOULD be counted in the census.
They would be counted as non-citizens.
Taxes are not the defining factor regarding voting rights.
Now what were the reasons we separated from Britain and formed our own country? It seems like I remember a popular chant regarding one of the most important reasons, “No taxation without representation!” Seems to me that citizens of such a country that formed because of that who would then deny other taxpayers of that country representation are tyrants and hypocrites!

@AbbeyRhode Also mentioned funding as a purpose of the census, which she said only citizens are entitled to. If non-citizens are paying taxes but missing out on the funding, explain to me how they’re not getting screwed.

@calnative
Please show me the part of the Constitution where it says only White people should be counted.

The US Constitution stated in Amendment XXVI, which was ratified by the states in 1971: "Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age
