Why would a smart Democrat want to be President?

And before all the Trump Supporter Trolls come out with "There is no such thing as a smart Democrat" hear me out. I contend that America as a world power is over, but the corpse has not started to stink yet, so Americans dont know it.
Twenty five Trillion in debt and climbing at an alarming rate , while industry after industry shifts more and more overseas. I have made all the arguments about how there is no coming back from this one. So. Since the political gulf in the US is to wide and deep, there can be no consensus. And since whoever is at the wheel will be blamed for the whole debacle when it finally hits home as a massive recession, why would any savvy political operator from EITHER side want to be President?

Activism. The Democrats are waist deep with misanthropic candidates who make no bones about wanting to destroy any and all societal standards.

@SteelHands You may be quite right. I dont know them all. But these "societal standards" you speak of have been running the US at a loss for decades and the debt has reached the level that it cant be paid or even the interest supported. The farm is going to be sold sooner or later.

@whowasthatmaskedman I'm referring to the societal standards of traditional family, a foundation of reading, writing and arithmetic, agreed on morality and life standards in the middle class, and living within one's economic means.

You will hear the Democrats always telling the voters that the roads are bad because they need more money. The school's are lousy because they need more money. Etc. Etc. Then if they get it the first thing they do is enlarge the government payroll and swindle the tax payer.

That Clinton and Obama got elected by people who hoped they were ordinary folks but now look at the avarice, the designer clothes and luxury homes and transportation they use. The whole lot of them. They live like wealthy people. The whole lot of them. On the tax payer dime. Throwing pennys out to the masses like greedy corporate rockefellerians.

None of the deep state election fraud, criminal charge rigging, phoney foundation money laundering or fake news is surprising.

There is hope. Guy like Trump. Totally fucked them up. And in 2024 it's going to be someone like him. Stay positive.

@SteelHands The problem I have with what you are saying is that its all true. But not the whole picture. America has put itself at the mercy of the global economy with all this debt. Which was fine when America RAN the global economy and set the rules. But China is stronger, America is weaker and the global economy is on a tightrope right now. Along comes Trump and changes trade deals and imposes tariffs which have weakened Americas trade and financial positions globally in a way that cant me undone. The loss of revenue is small. The loss of influence is permanent. That part is on Trump. All this combines to mean that America is no longer the leader of the band and doesnt call the tune.
Bottom line. America wont decide the next move. Someone you owe a lot of money to, who maybe doesnt like you, will. And you will end up with trade sanctions, Tariffs and the IMF putting up a foreclosure sign on the door.

@whowasthatmaskedman Growth potential is at least as important as short term profits. The US and a few other countries saw this 50 years ago and took Pepsi to the East. And since then the policies had been to practice some attrition to infuse some industrial growth in other places outside the US. Look at things from a longer view and you'll see that the moves don't hinder competition but encourage it.

Competition is good when it's balanced with challenges. Greed has its use too but needs to be offset by adaptability.

International agreement adjustments have been long due. Both to keep the super system intact and reinfuse progress in the base of capitalism, the American vision.

Lots of investors can't keep up with the changes. That's not news.
The ones that do are already seeing improvements. You'll just have to get used to the idea that the rich don't always stay on top and the ones lower down the ladder are not very useful if they are defeatist.

I'm not worried. Life's always been hard for me.

@SteelHands As it has for many Americans. The part that worries me is that those further up the food chain have a habit of getting those who didnt cause the problema and can least afford it, to pay. As in the bank bailouts.
