I don't see why this is so terrible if I'm being honest.
Ynotisay · M
@xRedx You do know he's not some guy sitting in shorts popping off about what he sees on FOX, right? He's the President of the United States and he embarrassed our nation. Again.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@xRedx It's not terrible, but it's dumb - and what's more, it's his usual sort of dumb. Every time there is a fire, he turns into a firefighting expert and gapes his ass all over the internet.

At least he didn't say that Notre Dame wasn't raked enough 🙄
Ynotisay · M
@QuixoticSoul As a Californian that was one that will always stick in my mind.
xRedx · M
I mean, what he said was in good faith, to put out the fire. I understand it was a short reply and perhaps didn't suggest the best solution but I don't think it's all that terrible. I don't think I'm wrong in what I'm saying.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@xRedx There is an obvious implication that the French don't know what they're doing.
@Ynotisay Lol, same. 😅
Ynotisay · M
@xRedx So you don't see how he made it about himself with an absolute ridiculous suggestion? That the better, wiser and more Presidential move would have been to wait and deliver something like President Obama did?
Like I said. He's the President. The rules are different. There's a reason the French (and most every country) hate him and, by extension, us.

@xRedx are you 18-21?
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Ynotisay Actually, there is a pretty good change that he is both the president and some guy sitting in shorts popping off about what he sees on FOX, if past is any indication.
xRedx · M
@Ynotisay didn't you read my response? I even said it probably wasn't the best solution but it was in good faith. If people hated him, even us as you said, he wouldn't have been elected president. So that doesn't make sense. Also I don't think you mean hate. Dislike perhaps, yes.
xRedx · M
@Fernie I don't see how that is relevant to this thread.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@xRedx It isn't in good faith. Trump never responds in good faith. After 9/11, his response was to falsely report that his building was now the tallest in Manhattan. Even in the biggest catastrophe in the nation in 60 years, his response was all about himself, as it always is.
Fernie · F
@xRedx you don't see much and I'll take that as a yes
Ynotisay · M
@xRedx Thanks for the correction on "hate" but I choose my words carefully and don't need the help. Particularly from an apologist.
And kid? Trump doesn't act in 'good faith.' That's not how he rolls. If you don't see that you're choosing not to.
xRedx · M
@windinhishair so saying they should put out the fires quickly isn't in good faith? Don't talk about the past, we're talking about what he said regarding the ND cathedral fire.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@xRedx Tankers would have destroyed the stone structure. The French aren't stupid like the president is. It isn't obvious they should put the fire out as quickly as they can? It is not a good faith response in any way. And yes, you have to look at the past for this president because it informs about his current aberrant behavior. Any other person making the same statement the president made would be criticized as well. The French had a reasoned response to Trump's self-serving bullshit.
