@HoraceGreenley With that attitude, you are playing chess with death, not playing Twister.😎

@Burnley123 Yeah, I saw both movies too.

@Burnley123 Very Clever. As for the claim of 97% or 98% of scientists believe in anthropogenic global warming, that's bullshit. I signed a petition years ago, signed by thousands of scientists, stating that anthropogenic global warming is not true and believing so is dangerous.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley Signing a petition which is against the interests of survival of your own species?

When a future alien race digs out our remains and studies what happened, they'll struggle to comprehend such a suicidal level of stupidity. 🤷
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Burnley123 Not just anyone you twit, but scientists. The 97% or 98% of scientists on board is bullshit.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley Why would you be signing a petition with other scientists?
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Pherick People with a bachelors degree in a hard science, i.e., biology, chemistry or physics, were allowed to participate. I have a BA in biology. Most of the signatories were MA's or PhD's in specific scientific fields.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley So when was this petition and what was the sample size? Are these just people in your town who were asked?

I kind of feel like your petition "feelings" are the BS thing here.

https://climate.nasa.gov/faq/17/do-scientists-agree-on-climate-change/

https://www.skepticalscience.com/global-warming-scientific-consensus-intermediate.htm

Even the list of scientists who disagree seems pretty short ..

Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley Did you join the March Against Science too? 🤣
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Pherick The sample was national. The signatories were in the thousands.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Burnley123 No. Why would I? i've forgotten more about science than you'll ever know.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley Yea, since you don't seem to provide any evidence for that, like a good scientist, I am just going to call BS.

Thanks for trying though.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley America has a huge population. 'Thousands' means 0.1% of your population and probably a full 1% of Americans with Science degrees, give or take.

It's like the Nigerian princess scam. If you have a sample size so huge then it only takes a tiny amount to be that gullible and your business model works. The Koch brothers probably thought exactly that.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Pherick Why do i need to provide "evidence?" You're references are biased. Besides, I don't care about what you think.

Go read a book and learn something.

Ah yes, the petition with overly alarmist wording in WSJ 20 years with no verification, where only a smattering of responders were climate scientists 😂

And over half of the responders had degrees in engineering 👌
Pherick · 41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley Are you sure you have a BA in Biology? You don't seem very scientific.

If you were, you would know you need to present evidence, because you stated an opinion that would need to be based on facts to be supported. Saying "Your references are biased" isn't a way to back up your own position or put mine down, its just a statement of opinion.

I feel like you may be the one who needs to read a few books, perhaps go back toa real school and earn a real degree.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Pherick
Are you sure you have a BA in Biology? You don't seem very scientific.

I did think that. This whole topic is an adjacent field to his degree but he's just posted memes about it, as usual.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Pherick I went to and graduated from Boston University.

I'm not playing this game of, "I'm right and you're wrong, so prove to me I'm wrong."

Who the fuck are you?
Pherick · 41-45, M
@HoraceGreenley I am someone without an alleged BA in Biology, who still understands that you can't make statements of opinion without having facts to back them up. You also can't make claims about sources being bad, without evidence to back them up.

You don't seem to be very good at understanding this debate idea, maybe you SHOULD just stick to shitposting memes.

Well tbf I haven't quoted the science but Pheric did and with your Scientific knowledge (which is surely better than mine) you should be able to debunk it. You haven't even tried to do that so maybe you can't?
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Burnley123 I don't care what you think.
