Never allow them in your home. Have a lawyer and a recorder on hand at all times.

@MasterLee good advice! I'll add that if you dont have a recorder then write everything down word for word as its being said. Slow yes but its your right.

@morrgin many victims do it to themselves by not knowing your rights.
morrgin · F
@MasterLee many of the rights people think they have don't apply with CPS. They don't even use the normal rules of evidence. Hearsay is given considerable weight and doesnt have to be proved.

@morrgin which is why you treat them as strangers. They have no rights over you that you do not give them.

@MasterLee I've heard that not letting people from CPS into the home is a massive problem, at least for kids that are actually at risk. If you aren't harming anyone, there's likely not going to be a problem. If you refuse, they might have to get a warrant to go in anyways and check out the living situation.

If it was me, I'd probably just let them in to check things out and clear you. So they can focus time and resources on kids that may actually need help.

@MasterLee what about going to your childs school, taking them out of class, and then interrogating them? I do agree to treat them as strangers.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@SW-User no. They go after people who do not fight. They want to take your kids to get paid more. Trench warfare will keep your kids.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@morrgin you teach your kids that no one can interrogate you without their parent present. Educate your kids. People report things as revenge and no resistance will result in massive inconvenience. Everyone is guilty in their view.

@morrgin Social workers can't interrogate children without consent from the parent, at least in the U.S.

You'd have to get a cop to do it, and even then, that child has to be a witness or victim of a crime, if they're not, they'll have to probably ask for permission.

@SW-User cps violates all the laws
morrgin · F
@MasterLee Yep they do in most areas

@SW-User "As part of the investigation, your child will be interviewed separately from the person alleged to have abused your child. Your child may be interviewed at school. Parental consent is not required for DCS to interview a child. After the initial interview, DCS may determine that the child might need a more in-depth interview, known as a forensic interview. These interviews are normally completed at Child Advocacy Centers."

This is an example from https://www.tn.gov/dcs/program-areas/fca/foster-care/birth-parents/clients-rights.html

@morrgin illegal

@SW-User I've heard that suggestion as well and it makes sense too.
