Trump has a legally provable history of anti-black racism, and the KKK's newspaper has headlines celebrating him as a champion of the white race. There's videos of neo-nazis saluting him shouting "hail Trump".

Even if you don't think he's a racist, or that supporting him is racist, the real racists do think these things.

And it makes them brave.
