Trump approval rating 39%

Reading SW you would think Trump was the greatest President ever and those here who dare to disagree are treated like a small group of ignorant misfits. But the fact is- we are the majority of the American people!

More people voted for even the much disliked Hilary than for Trump, and Trump has consistently had among the lowest approval ratings of any president ever. It's never been more than low 40s% and is currently just 39%-

So why do you Trumpters act like you represent the will of the American people?

I have some thoughts:

Trump is a unique case, and least in the modern era, seems to have a core set of voters thats overwhelmingly devoted and resistant to influence from external sources for a variety of reasons, mostly, I think due to his ability to manipulate the media and his symbiosis with Fox, which has a similar philosophy and approach to building its brand.

Trump won the 2016 election in large part by giving voters enemies to blame, Muslims, globalists, liberals, Democrats, the deep state, Mexicans, intellectuals, academics, millennials, the media, Hollywood, coastal elites, etc., and while he built a pretty powerful voting block, it was based on core ideologies that are disdained by a lot of institutions and that, along with a lot of things he's said and done, and the fact that a majority of Americans have issues with these things and in turn with those that support them and him, IMO, have likely increased, rather than decreased the number of "closet Trump supporters, who feel like they can't or shouldn't express their political views in public for family or professional reasons, or even on Facebook or other non anonymous social media.

SW is a natural place for these folks, like others who feel like they have stuff they want to express anonymously, and through blocking as well as the general tolerance (believe it or not) of SW and even other disimmilar users ,they seem to be able to have found safe spaces, as well as places to fight as keyboard warriors, and just be themselves without recrimination or real world condemnation.

And here, where they often do outnumber other users active in the politics section, they not only feel more secure, but powerful and free to be like they can't be in the real world, which, of course, sometimes includes emulating Trump style bullying and bragging.

This is just my theory of course, and I have friends here, some of whom are Trump supporters who don't fit in with the theory much at all, or who, like myself gravitated to SW for completely non political reasons, but I think it does help explain some of what you're describing.

I don't see as much of here in other sections/topics, but on EP, there were an awful lot of different groups that formed communities, like the transgender, cross dressing and fetish crowds and even the "Other Woman" groups which could provide support as well as other things.

@MistyCee Very intelligent discourse, but the fact is. Elitist snobs, and crazy people are alienating the working class. Idealistic and immature people are willing to sacrifice common sense on the altar of political correctness, the democrats are willing to screw Americans to build their voting block and insure prolonged power, the leftist fascists are morally bankrupt, and young idiots run around sporting hammers and sickles when they would not know what to do with either one.
@LvChris Foreign supporters make sense to me given the parallel movements worldwide, and I'm guessing SW is pretty small for professional political trolling, if that's where you're going, but it could be I'm wrong. I think you're probably right about people being pro Trump for attention or humor, though. A couple of those come to mind right away, and while I think I've spotted some of them over time, they can be pretty good at playing their roles
Lol. Nice to see you.@puck61 I could be wrong, but you strike me, like myself, as someone who enjoys the freedom of anonymous expression here, which is the less toxic and lengthy version of what I was saying.
@MistyCee I'm not the least bit anonymous. That worries me sometimes, but I am armed and keep my doors locked.
@puck61 Well stay safe, please. Not only do I like you, but your posts sometimes make me feel less crazy.

That's not intended as an insult but a compliment by the way.
@MistyCee You are a very intelligent and rational person. I understand your dislike for Trump. I don't really like him as a person, but from my perspective he is the best president I've seen in my lifetime. Let me see if I can get this simile right; ' I deliberately ignore the Andy Warhol America to see the Norman Rockwell America.' I seriously hate the direction that the left is going, but my best friend is a Trump hating liberal.

@puck61 I'm not sure how you figure he such a good president. He lucked up by getting elected during a rising business cycle that he takes credit for, and is now beginning to founder due to his tariffs. He was suppose to have made peace with Kim Jong Un and that has totally failed. Meanwhile Russia and China are building new weapon systems and expanding their global clout which he is doing nothing about.
@kayle That's pure nonsense. Obama was an absentee senator who became an absentee president. He was a kow towing sycophant to every other country but the one he was supposed to be leading and he ruined agencies right and left,. Barry should be in prison for the rest of his worthless life.

@puck61 Don't tell anyone, please, but I prefer Rockwell to Warhol myself.
