Trump is routinely dismissed as a charlatan, incompetent, etc, etc, rarely argued with or against in a civilised and objective way. That’s not to say that these judgments are necessarily wrong, just that the language and quality of argument is so dismissive and arrogant. @Fernie

@MartinII I just had this exact same conversation with another braindead individual..trump is a mutant and deserves ZERO respect...he brings hatred into people's hearts... something is eating away at your brains if you think he deserves respect on any level. @bijouxbroussard Of course it isn’t presidential behaviour. That’s my point, or part of it. Many Democrats, and left-wing opponents around the world, focus on the President’s behaviour and character defects (to put it mildly!) rather than his policies, and do so in language that mirrors his own. In doing so they allow themselves to be dragged down to his level. And apart from anything else, I think that’s tactically unwise. I assume that, as an opponent of Trump, your main political priority is to get a Democrat elected as President in 2020. I’m afraid that many Democrat leaders, spokespeople and supporters seem, at least from this side of the Atlantic, to be going the wrong way about achieving that.
