I just ran some simple numbers.

By the time of slavery's abolition the US had condoned slavery for 88 years (1864-1776).

Around that time the average wage of someone of their occupation was $10/year making the total sum owed in 1864 to be $880.

With inflation that would be worth $22,500 today.

Assuming we literally paid every single African American (which we wouldn't) that means the US would have to give them $945B (based on a population of 42M African Americans).

Given this data, would you accept that $945B is an acceptable sum to pay to finally repay the ancestors of slaves and finally remove the idea of white guilt from US culture?

Ha ha ha, someone's looking to start arguments.

To answer your question, no. It wouldn't matter how much money was paid, it would never remove the stigma of slavery. Doing so implies we owe people today for poor treatment in the past. That's not a worthwhile endevour for a myriad of reasons.
@SumKindaMunster So you believe America will never fix the past and will always be divided by racism and a history of bad choices?
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 I never said anything remotely like that strawman.

Why dont you try asking a sincere or relevant question or provide a substantial rebuttal instead of engaging in immature strawman arguments?
@SumKindaMunster I asked a question to clarify. Just clarify what you mean for me
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 I don't support reparations for slavery, the past is the past, it can never be changed, paying people today for something that happened in the past sets a bad precedent. The victims of the American slavery system are dead and gone, giving money to their decendents only perpetuates their perceived victimhood.
@SumKindaMunster What about those affected by it today? I mean the systemic racism kept going a long time. They deserve anything?
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 Race is a protected class in this country. There are legal resources, both civil and criminal, available to "victims" of racism. Why is that not enough?
@SumKindaMunster The pain you and your family suffered in the past can hurt for generations to come. History shows this.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 So? How do you qualify this? Should I too receive reparations for the poor treatment my Italian and Irish ancestors received when they emigrated to this country in the early 1900's?
@SumKindaMunster Were there laws that impacted them directly? Did these laws cost them money? If so, then you could make a case if you like. I don't think it would be as strong as the African Americans but I don't see why you couldn't at least start a discussion
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 Ha ha ha, no thank you. I prefer to follow my ancestors examples, and ignore those that would attempt to discourage me, be persistent, and find like minded people to bond with and form a community. Being a "victim" forces you to believe you cant succeed, and invites one to be complacent and bitter.

I prefer to live the best life I can and ignore those who would attempt to bring me down due to their own shitty beliefs and prejudices.
@SumKindaMunster That's your call. But you're living in a different world to them so it makes sense you'd feel differently
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 Agreed. I like the world I live in. Once I stopped listening to ruinous left wing propaganda I became stronger, more prosperous, more content and happier.

I recommend everyone living in America to unplug from the MSM, and talk to friends, family and community members about the world. It's way better than trying to impose your worldview on anonymous strangers on the internet.
@SumKindaMunster I think you went a little "Tin Foil Hat" towards the end there but to each his or her own
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 That's exactly what a person indoctrinated by left wing propaganda would say. I share with you that I am happy and content after jettisoning MSM propaganda from my life and your response is that I am crazy and/or paranoid.

As you say, to each his own.
@SumKindaMunster Just that it comes off a little crazy because it's an extreme in today's society. I like how you keep using the phrase "left wing propaganda" as if anyone in the US knows what the left wing are or that their news media pushes that agenda. Fox is the biggest News Media company in the US and they're pretty far to the right with their opinions
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 Fox News is part of the MSM, and I do not watch it. Does that change your opinion at all?
@SumKindaMunster My opinion that you sound a little nutty? No but I don't actually think you are crazy, just sound it by avoiding all MSM
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 To me, that's a sure sign you are indoctrinated. You think I'm a little crazy because I dont watch cable news? K. What does that say about you?
@SumKindaMunster Cable news? No I think tout sound crazy for avoiding all MSM. I avoid news too because I don't care for it but I love media. What exactly am I indoctrinated into? I'm not a Republican or a Democrat supporter. I do t care for Conservativism or Liberalism. So what other propaganda in the US pushing?
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 You are clearly indoctrinated to believe the decendents of slaves deserve reparations.

These are thoughts being pushed directly by several Democrat candidates for President through their propaganda arms in the MSM.
@SumKindaMunster I don't believe anything about reparations. It's not my place to make the call as I'm not a victim, nor an American. I just asked because the Dems seem to be bringing it up again.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 Which is exactly what I said, and here you are promoting that idea like a good indoctrinated slave.
@SumKindaMunster See that type of language is akin to the Alex Jones types who are considered crazy. If you aren't crazy and don't wanna sound as such, change the wording
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Qwerty14 All free thinkers are considered "crazy" by the indoctrinated masses. You are merely reinforcing my decisions.
