I just ran some simple numbers.

By the time of slavery's abolition the US had condoned slavery for 88 years (1864-1776).

Around that time the average wage of someone of their occupation was $10/year making the total sum owed in 1864 to be $880.

With inflation that would be worth $22,500 today.

Assuming we literally paid every single African American (which we wouldn't) that means the US would have to give them $945B (based on a population of 42M African Americans).

Given this data, would you accept that $945B is an acceptable sum to pay to finally repay the ancestors of slaves and finally remove the idea of white guilt from US culture?

Why should I pay for something that I didn't do
@Djac17 Well everyone would be paying through taxes but it's the government that is paying for something they did do

@Qwerty14 You do realize that the people who were involved in slavery during those Times are dead. Todays generation had nothing to do with what happened back then. Todays American Blacks were not enslaved in those times because they weren't around. We should not pay for something bad that we had nothing to do with, that happened over 150 years ago, whose victims aren't around to receive those reparations.
And if we wanna pay slavery reparations, we should repay for all the slavery throughout human existence.
@Djac17 No just the slavery from the founding of your nation in 1776. And the affects of slavery and all subsequent racist laws still exist today. Reparations is about repairing this

Last I checked slavery was abolished before 1900, And like I said today's generation should not have to pay for something they didn't do. And it's 2019, not 1950s or 60s era America. And I don't think whatever racist laws in America you're referring to affect us today. Look at probably 75% of America's professional athletes. We also had a BLACK MAN AS PRESIDENT FOR 8 YEARS!!
