I just ran some simple numbers.

By the time of slavery's abolition the US had condoned slavery for 88 years (1864-1776).

Around that time the average wage of someone of their occupation was $10/year making the total sum owed in 1864 to be $880.

With inflation that would be worth $22,500 today.

Assuming we literally paid every single African American (which we wouldn't) that means the US would have to give them $945B (based on a population of 42M African Americans).

Given this data, would you accept that $945B is an acceptable sum to pay to finally repay the ancestors of slaves and finally remove the idea of white guilt from US culture?

What about the war that cost the lives of 431 men every day round the clock for 4 years total 630000 - Plus the death of Mr. Lincoln. Why did we fight the war ? Did anybody or any group benefit ? Was the nation hurt because of this fight ? How many Southern families were torn apart and equally - How many Notheren families were ruined ?
@MarmeeMarch The Civil War was just that. It was a war against two opposing governments and slavery was just a focus for it. African Americans were forced to fight on both sides of that was and suffered many casualties too.
@Qwerty14 so ? the war was for them for the most part - so is this the part where I am supposed to be grateful ?
@MarmeeMarch No the war was not for them. It was for the Union. They didn't wanna lose control over their country.
@Qwerty14 And it was to release the slaves
@MarmeeMarch again that was one part of it. They only wanted to free the slaves as to not stop trade with Europe and give less power to the south. They didn't do it because they suddenly liked black people
@Qwerty14 At the end of the war - it was a racial thing. And groups like the KKK sprung up.
@MarmeeMarch The KKK was originally a Christian group against Jews. It wasn't till the 1900s that they shifted to all minorities and moves away from Christianity
