Of course they should.

@jackjjackson hundreds of thousands are marching against brexit. the march for leave had: 350 people.

The vote was held and completed. Any one who wants otherwise is treasonous. @unknownpoetx

Scotland should have a 2nd independence referendum
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
The idea that we should need to be allowed one in the first place is ridiculous (imagine the EU saying "now is not the time" for a referendum on membership. We need another referendum. The circumstances have completely changed with brexit. We were told in 2014 being in the UK is the only way to stay in the EU. 63% of us voted to stay in the EU yet we're being dragged out. That's the biggest issue but there's also the lies of job losses in an independent Scotland that we've now lost anyway and the great lie that we would get all these new powers and would lead the UK. Now we just get told to sit down and shut up. I look forward to them trying the same lies in the next referendum campaign.

They've already had their vote in 2014.

In any case if Brexit seems hard to work out...we've only been in the EU/EEC since the 1970s. The Act of Union was in 1707. Good luck with that one.
unknownpoetx · 36-40, M
@Lhayezee in 2014 there was no brexit. Scotland massively voted remain in EU. they will get a 2nd referendum because obviously as anyone agreed the circumstances of the Union have massively changed since then. also all constitiunalists say it will be trigger immediately. that's democracy. respect it
Lhayezee · 26-30, F
@unknownpoetx a British constitutionalist worth their salt would recognise that referenda are really stupid ideas. Not because people are too stupid to know about an issue but because we live in a representative republic (it is in name but not at all in effect a constitutional monarchy), where we choose people to make decisions like this on our behalf

The Brexit mess is largely the result of our elected representatives, who are charged with running the country according to their judgement of what is in everyone's best interests, being told that their judgement is wrong thanks to an ill considered exercise in party political management
unknownpoetx · 36-40, M
@Lhayezee so you call people that study and teach law for a living with a life dedicated to the public service stupid. oh ok. tell me your amazing qualifications. how many phd's have you got?
I completely agree with you the elected representatives are charged with running the country according to their judgement. BUT not with everyone's best interests because there's no such thing because obviously what is of interest to some is the opposite to others.
and since sctoland voted remain in EU they should run scotland according to what people voted.
since it's impossible to be in EU and in UK at the same time, they should have a saying. and btw the elected representatives of scotland that are charged with running the country according to their judgement also want a 2nd referendum. so yea, you are contradicting yourself.
WelshGirl · 22-25, F
Yes. And Wales too. Wales voted to « remain « . By what? And we couldn’t vote. I am old enough to vote now. Please let me have my say.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@WelshGirl yass mon big plaid cumry
MartinII · 70-79, M
a) they have had a referendum to leave the UK already, and voted to stay;

b) there is no guarantee that an independent Scotland would be allowed to join the EU.

That said, as an Englishman I am all in favour of Scottish independence - so long, of course, as the Scots give us the nuclear weapons.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@MartinII You can take them now we don't want them 😂.

Dan193 · 31-35, M
That will get them separated from UK. We all want UK to stay, but not at such selfish cost of having a country broke in 2.
unknownpoetx · 36-40, M
@Dan193 economically and socially broken. they are being forced leave. all regions voted remain. I would be really pissed if my democratic will wasn't respected. hell, revolutions have started for a lot less than that
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@unknownpoetx Yeah, but they voted as a country. And the majority wanted out. I hope they get a second referendum and they get to stay, but I don't want Scotland to brake off from UK.
unknownpoetx · 36-40, M
@Dan193 you can't have both. the polls say people will vote leave uk if there's a brexit.
funny how brexiteers claim for democracy and leave EU regardless of anything but then want to deny Scotland their own democracy. I guess it only works on one side. England rules. the rest are just slaves. poor Northern Ireland too.
