Brexit shambles rumbles on.

It's really boring and chaotic. Nobody knows anything and nobody can predict anything. Its like being trapped in a room forever being forced to listen to Nickleback. Apologies to Nickleback.

I used to have opinions on this and stuff but now I'm bored.

Whatever the outcome will be, our British friends will stop being Europeans. It's very sad. ☹️🇪🇺

@helenS We will still be Europeans, just not attached to the EU

I'm pretty certain they are not planning to drag the British Isles out into the Atlantic... Though given the amount of fussing around they are doing you would think that was the case, lol

@MadisonBilly Nobody has ever questioned any British traditions, of course, and you know it. But it does not matter anymore. It's over. 😔

@Quizzical "We will still be Europeans
I hope you are right my friend.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@helenS Quite the reverse. Whatever happens we wiil still be Europeans - geographically, obviously, but also temperamentally and culturally. It’s a pity the Brexit argument obscures that.
helenS · 36-40, F
@MartinII Personally I am very pessimistic. I feel anxiety come up as the Brexit approaches rapidly. It's time to say "Good Bye" to all of you good people. Next time I visit the UK I will need a passport. Maybe a visa.

Of course I hope you are right, and things will proceed smoothly and without violence.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@helenS You need a passport now. And whatever happens, it’s very unlikely you will need a visa. But legalities apart, you will always be welcome, as I’m sure I will be in EU countries.
ordinaryguy · 41-45, M
@helenS i think this is realyl against the main motive of EU
helenS · 36-40, F
@MartinII I believe I needed only my ID card the last time I was in the UK. I just took a plane to London Stansted, rented a car, and drove to Cardiff, to Aberystwyth (what a name! 😁), and Barmouth. It was strange that I needed a currency converter, because I can use the same currency everywhere else, in Italy, France, Germany, everywhere.

Yes of course, you will always be welcome my friend. 🌷
helenS · 36-40, F
@ordinaryguy Sorry I do not understand what you are referring to.
ordinaryguy · 41-45, M
@helenS i mean the establishment of EU has both social and economic parts. the economic part was simply doin business together. but the EU was established mainly cuz most of the european countries feel connected and related somehow. now UK is goin away just cuz of economic reasons. Many of my friends from UK or outside UK, are really sad about it.
helenS · 36-40, F
@ordinaryguy By the way your country belongs into 🇪🇺.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@helenS WE existed outside of it for hundreds of years, and though we are currently a member, we certainly do not BELONG to the EU
ordinaryguy · 41-45, M
@helenS not actually. we are trying to enter the EU for the past 50 years. but still we are not a full member. some ppl relate with our democracy, some relate with human rights, some ppl relate it with our religion. no matter what it is we are unfortunately still not totally in :(
helenS · 36-40, F
@ordinaryguy There are strong forces in Europe to keep you out. It's sad. Turkey is part of Europe. Religion has nothing to do with it. Europe should be politically united, but culturally diverse.
ordinaryguy · 41-45, M
@helenS I agree with you. I think, although USA and China has so big economical and army power, europe represents the level of our civilisation in terms of democracy, human right, and etc. so we all should try to make it move forward as much as we can. all european countries need each other to accomplish that.

@helenS Aberystwyth close to my heart my son lived there for 5 years. We're not unique in EU not being in euro so is Denmark.
That's part of the issue, rightly or wrongly, it's viewed by many that the EU is an unelected bureaucracy imposing things like thr euro on us. That along with us being attractive to people in the EU to come and work here are two of the major reasons UK voted to leave.

Personally I wanted to remain I believe that it was good economically and culturally.
helenS · 36-40, F
@SW-User My accomodation in Aberystwyth was immediately at the promenade. Loved it. It was very stormy. I spent almost a week in A., then I drove to Barmouth, which is also very nice. Friendly people everywhere! But one time I saw into some frozen faces, when I erroneously said "You English people" instead of "Welsh people" haha! There were not amused. That was in Barmouth, in a pub/hotel called "Tal-y-Don". I didn't know this is still a thing in England, errrm no, wait, Wales. 😁
