It's Not Often I'll Defend Lizzy Warren... But In This Case, I Will.
Facebook takes down Elizabeth Warren ads calling for breakup of Facebook

Facebook has removed several ads placed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign that called for the breakup of Facebook and other tech giants.

The ads, which had identical images and text, touted Warren's recently announced plan to unwind "anti-competitive" tech mergers, including Facebook’s acquisition of WhatsApp and Instagram.

“Three companies have vast power over our economy and our democracy. Facebook, Amazon, and Google," read the ads, which Warren's campaign had placed Friday. "We all use them. But in their rise to power, they’ve bulldozed competition, used our private information for profit, and tilted the playing field in their favor.”
Facebook should be investigated and grilled before Congressional committees for this.

It's time to treat the tech giants like the television networks once were.

The points are well taken however it’s impossible to side with Mrs Warren.

Jailing the owners of these personal invasion companies and ending the companies is the only true answer.

Corporate death penalty?

You know that will never happen.

The damage to the economy would be too great.

But I'm fine with jailing their executives.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
If that’s true then that’s another huge problem. Breaking the companies up or having them run by others won’t fix it. The process has to stop. @beckyromero

@jackjjackson

I've said this before.

Stop FINING companies. Fines are only slaps on the wrists to them.

Make them pay DAMAGES to the consumers harmed by their lawlessness. THEN they'll face bankruptcy and their execs would face worthless stock options.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Damages are nearly impossible to prove. Court cases can drag more than a decade. Jail the executives and shut down. Seize the assets. Use them for anything except additional foreign wars. @beckyromero

@jackjjackson

I'm talking about statutory damages set by law.

Nothing for a Court to decide on the amounts. Only if the law was violated.

If so, they have to pay up.

In a way, like the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) works, only with more teeth and higher penalties.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Good luck getting that passed. I’m in favor of keeping it simple and fast. @beckyromero

@jackjjackson

Not with a Republican Senate, of course.

But I can see President Biden signing something into law come 2023 with a Democratic House AND Senate.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
If the Dems control the House and Senate the Dems will willbe controlled by lefties and all bets are off. Odds are Biden won’t be eith us let alone President. @beckyromero

@jackjjackson

Reports are that Biden may announce this week.

I still have a bad feeling he won't run.

Longshot idea: That he pledges to serve only one term AND announces who he wants as his running mate at the same time.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
There is a story out there that while VP, Biden and his son flew to China together and the son has a huge multi million business deal with the Chinese that coincidentally came into being at the same time. That if true is said to be what will sideline Biden. Frankly I think 65 should be the max age to be able to run. @beckyromero

I'm going to post a question on age and serving.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
When the constitution was written no one lived to age 65. @beckyromero

@jackjjackson

Washington died at age 67.

John Adams at 90.

Jefferson at 83.

Madison at 85.

More outliers and others way too late. @beckyromero

Want me to name VPs? Secretaries of State?

Signers of the Constitution?

Benjamin Franklin lived to nearly 100.

😉
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Those weren’t the ages when they were president. This isn’t Jeopardy Ms Showoff. @beckyromero

😜

And, remember, with the advancements in medical science they could have ran and served as president in later years instead of when they did.

John Quincy Adams actually served in the House after serving as president.
