Yeah it's a coincidence.

Why are both DiBlasio and Gov Cuomo upset for different reasons? Why can’t sll these Dems get in the same page? Supposedly 25K guaranteed minimum $150K salaries. @QuixoticSoul

@jackjjackson Because people disagree on this stuff, and because some things that make great sense from the state perspective, can look less than rosy locally.

Speaking as someone who lives in a city absolutely stuffed with those 150k jobs - the results are mixed.

There aren’t many there and 25K additional won’t be a drop in the bucket but not much more. The cost of living there is less than yours. I’m beginning to feel a distrust for Zuckerburg and Bezos types. @QuixoticSoul

@jackjjackson The thing any city really needs to be able to answer in these situation is if there is enough housing, and where those jobs are going to be sourced from. If you're importing in 25k people with 150k jobs, you better be ready for them, or you'll get runaway gentrification (how do you think costs of living here got so high)?

Anyway, there are all sides of issue here, and the way these things affect state, city, and neighborhood governments are all different. Obviously, the state, and probably the city, sees dollar signs that evaporated. But they weren't going to be hit with the repercussions either.

Bezos and Zuckerberg types obviously don't give a fuck, they mostly just want tax breaks and a workforce - or at least a location the workforce can move to.

In this case , it was a small group of quite local politicians that “scared” Amazon away (who didn’t want to put with years of the same childish BS). These local politicians now say the $3B should be used for schools and subways. They miss the point that there is no $3B. The $3B would have been FUTURE tax incentives for Amazon. How did these local politician geniuses understand that?@QuixoticSoul
