Does Trump sound like a thief at this point?

He wants to take money from military funds and might divert money from disaster aids meant for California and Puerto Rico (which are still recovering from their disasters) just to try and get this wall he wants built.

The wall is for the safety of Americans , I saw him at a meeting with relatives of family murdered by illegal immigrants and until it happens to your family , you will go on putting him down for doing something good for the country....
SW-User
@Platinum A wall is not going to put an end to that though. Plus you’re more likely to be killed by another native citizen than you are by an illegal immigrant.
Platinum · M
You don't know that....and you probably have more chance of being killed by a car but they won't ban cars, but if the wall saved a 1000 lives it would be worth....how would you feel if an illegal killed a family member...@SW-User

@Platinum The prohibition on alcohol did not stop people from selling and drinking it. 👀

So what makes you think a wall is going to put an end to crime that some illegal immigrants commit?
SW-User
@SW-User
A wall is not going to put an end ...
It is not meant to literally put an END to the issue.

Neither does a prison wall put a literal end to murders, even after a murderer is incarcerated behind that wall.

But, when a convicted lawbreaker/murderer wants to escape from a facility in which they have been incarcerated, do the prison wall barriers at least make the escape MORE difficult for the lawbreaker/murderer, and make the apprehension of that lawbreaker/murderer a little LESS difficult for law enforcement?

I only use that analogy because THAT is why the U.S. Border Patrol wants additional physical barriers as well as modernization of the old, antiquated ones.

If it's open borders that you desire for the U.S.A., or if illegal immigration is something you support, then go for it.

But PHYSICAL BARRIERS are effective as to why they are preferred by the U.S. Border Patrol agents in the midst of their day-to-day work.
SW-User
@SW-User I don’t support open borders nor do I support a wall being built. There are other ways to improve border security, funding border security for things like more border patrol and the use of technology (i.e. drones) is what I agree with and what both Democrats and Republicans want. And that was going to become a reality before this whole thing ended up becoming a shutdown and now a national emergency.
Platinum · M
@SW-User over 100,000 immigrants committed crimes in 2018 and 20% of inmates are immigrants and what makes you think it won't work....as I've said , it won't bother you until an immigrant kills a member of your family...which I hope won't happen...
Platinum · M
@SW-User so you don't think a wall will work, but a few extra guards will, can't say I like your thinking...you think drones will work? They will shoot them down ....technology won't work for that length of border....
SW-User
@Platinum um, illegal immigrants don’t have guns on them.
SW-User
@Platinum That’s less than the crime commited by native born citizens. Not saying it’s horrible, but still. So really, you’re more likely to be killed by a native born American.
Platinum · M
@SW-User so you are in favour of more killing, up to you but most people want less killing..and I'm with them
SW-User
@Platinum Are you in favor of ignoring statistics to get a wall that does not work?
Platinum · M
@SW-User it might surprise you, they have lots of other ways to kill you...you should tell that to all those who have had relatives murdered....
Platinum · M
Explain why the wall won't work...all the border guards want the wall and have said it will make their job easier....perhaps they should knock down all the prison walls as they don't work...@SW-User

The charts below come from a December 2016 study published in the Journal of Ethnicity in Criminal Justice. They show that US saw a 118% increase in its immigrant population (documented and undocumented) from 1980 through 2016.

Yet during this same period, the rate of violent crime - homicides, rapes, robberies, and assaults, according to the FBI - fell by 36% to about 386 incidents per 100,000 residents.

As for native born citizens: A more recent peer-reviewed study, published in March 2017 by The Sociological Quarterly, compared all forms of immigration and violence in rural versus urban communities from 1990 through 2010. The number of foreign-born residents - accounting for many other factors - appeared to reduce violent crime rates in rural areas, though not at statistically significant levels. But in cities, immigration was significantly associated with reduced rates of violent crimes.

There's also a study published in February by the Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank, which further rejects the idea that illegal immigration is tied to increases in rates of violent crime.

The study looked at conviction data in Texas - the state with the second-largest population of foreign-born residents - for native-born, unauthorized immigrant, and legal immigrant residents.

The research found that native-born residents were most likely to commit and be convicted of crimes, while unauthorized immigrants saw a conviction rate that was about 50% lower. Legal immigrants appeared to be the most law-abiding, with 86% fewer convictions than native-born Texans.

I can show charts that give different facts, but it won't get us anywhere...you are for open borders and more killing and I'm not....we both won't change...you must be a democrat..@SW-User

First off, people get to the United States from South America through a point of entry. This is also where drugs are smuggled through in vehicles. What Trump is stating, that people smuggle them over by foot is simply not true. Drugs are also smuggled in through ship cargo and planes from other countries such as China where fentanyl is being sold from.

Second is because of travel visas. A majority of people who come into the U.S. are on a visa and once it has expired and they don’t leave, they are now considered under law an illegal immigrant.

As for sex trafficking, that takes place across the world even in the United States, so a wall is not going to stop/ slow down sex trafficking.

Next reason is, you can’t close off the entire Mex/U.S. border with a wall because that would do damage financially to the nation. Many states rely on trade from Central America.

And finally completion, if the wall does get built it might take decades to finish, by then a new president will be in office and he or she can end construction of the wall.

You never answered are you a democrat...@SW-User
SW-User
@Platinum Actually, I’m not for open borders. And yes i am. Plus no one who is a Democrat is for open borders. Just because I’m against building a border wall does not mean I’m for open borders.
SW-User
@Platinum I just did. I said yes I am.

No?...Remember Kate Steinle?

"Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, 45, was acquitted of murder and involuntary manslaughter charges, as well as assault with a deadly weapon. Jurors convicted the Mexican citizen of being a felon in possession of a firearm, which could bring a three-year sentence.

SW-User
@SW-User That was my response to Platinum who said that an illegal immigrant crossing over to the United States might shoot down a drone. If someone is coming over from South America to request asylum in the states, why in the world would they have a firearm on them?
SW-User
@SW-User
I don’t support open borders nor do I support a wall being built. There are other ways to improve border security, funding border security for things like more border patrol and the use of technology
So, you know more than what the Border Patrol actually states it wants, or maybe, is the Border Patrol lying?

As for technology?...It's great.

Banks have technology to prevent/slow down/discourage robberies in today's modern age.

Banks also have human guards to complement that technology for a common, desired result.

But, banks have NEVER done away with its PHYSICAL BARRIERS to make it more difficult to rob the bank of its money, i.e., its VAULTS.

And when someone goes into a bank with intention to rob a modern bank in today's world DURING it open business hours, the technology is right there doing it's job, the guards are right there doing their job, and the VAULT(barrier) has the MOST money in it...

Yet, rarely, if ever the robbers even ATTEMPT to demand money from the vault...they most frequently demand the money that is EASIER for the tellers/employees to give them in the least amount of time, so that they can complete the robbery process as QUICKLY and with the LEAST AMOUNT of DIFFICULTY.

They know that if they try to demand money from the VAULT(barrier), they will increase their chances of being CAUGHT.

So, in that real-life scenario, the only thing that keeps them from taking more loot than they would otherwise, is the VAULTED BARRIER.

That's why law enforcement, military, homeowners, business owners, celebrities, VIPs, the Vatican....ALL of them see the effective significance of BARRIERS.

But, I suppose the Border Patrol is just ignorant of what they claim would assist them in doing their jobs the most efficiently and effectively...🤨
SW-User
@SW-User
If someone is coming over from South America to request asylum in the states, why in the world would they have a firearm on them?
Why would ANY have a firearm on them AFTER they get into the USA as a result of merely making their non-deniable request to seek asylum, released into the population, and waiting on their day in court that may be months, if not years away (which they rarely, if ever show up for?
SW-User
@SW-User The wall from the Vatican does not keep out people though. And the barriers that people have around their house is not meant for illegal immigrants. Of course they are used to give the homeowner some extra privacy and smaller barriers that are placed around a house is used for decoration. But no illegal immigrant is breaking into their house to live in it as an attempt to get away from violence in their country, now are they?

Going into a bank to steal money is not the only way bank robbers steal money, robbing a bank through cyber attacks is becoming an issue now, bank robberies have also been done by phone call.
SW-User
@SW-User Most illegal immigrants do show up for court. Around 60-75 percent of non-detained migrants have attended their immigration court proceedings, according to Justice Department data from the last five available years. Some limited data suggests rates may be higher for asylum-seekers.

That said, it’s important to note that in absolute terms, a significant number of migrants have had in absentia deportation orders filed against them for failure to appear in court. So just because some do not show up for court, does not mean nothing is done about it.

And here's that data:
