Does Trump sound like a thief at this point?

He wants to take money from military funds and might divert money from disaster aids meant for California and Puerto Rico (which are still recovering from their disasters) just to try and get this wall he wants built.

58 national emergencies have been called by presidents since 1979. 13 of those emergencies were called upon by Barack Obama during his 8 year term for things like swine flu, the Flint, Michigan water crisis, Iran, etc. So Presidents calling for national emergencies IS NOTHING NEW for those of you hooked on lamestream media (who fail to fill you in all the facts). This is not a constitutional crisis. To reiterate, Obama did it 13 times and where was the crisis then? It’s only a crisis now because (yet again) its something Trump is doing
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@DukeOfEarle Obama did not call a national emergency for the Flint water crisis. He did call one for the swine flu and for 12 blocking property claims for individuals and countries involved in illegal behavior. So get your facts straight. Presidents calling for national emergencies is nothing new. At least you are correct on that. However, this is the first time a president has called for a fabricated national emergency for the sole purpose of bypassing Congress, who would not give him what he wanted. In every single other case of the 58 other national emergencies called since 1978, the emergency was recognized by the Congress and the American people as an emergency, was consistent with the will of Congress, and supported by the public. Trump's "emergency" is a first in our history, sets a horrible precedent, is clearly a power grab, and will not survive a court challenge.

@DukeOfEarle Declaring an emergency without congress approval is new. It’s has not been done before by any president.

The thing is Trump had two years to do something about this “border crisis”, but it’s an emergency now after those two years? Why in 2017 or 18 did Trump not consider it an emergency then?
Here’s the list. And its from ABC News. [https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/list-31-national-emergencies-effect-years/story?id=60294693@autumn25]

@DukeOfEarle And yet, not a single one was fabricated to circumvent congressional approval and appropriation. Until now. With this wannabe dictator.
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@SW-User That is simply false. He's not the first the President and Congress passed the law he's using in 1976. That is Congressional approval. The National Emergencies Act of 1976. Google is your friend.

As for why he didn't declare an emergency, because he was trying to fix it before it became an emergency. Democrats obstructed, even to the point of being willing to sacrifice DACA. So the partisan, and dishonest, spin is a little old at this point. You guys just don't want to deal with illegal immigration.
@DukeOfEarle

Why wasn't it a crisis a year ago? Because Republicans held both houses. Now Trump can blame Democrats. This is a mindless political ploy.
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@windinhishair The emergency isn't fabricated, you just want to ignore the problem for political reasons.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Sicarium It is fabricated, because it isn't supported by the facts, and it bypasses congressional power to appropriate. Congress just passed a law that the president signed. His actions usurped congressional power, and the courts will strike down the fabricated emergency.
SW-User
@Sicarium
Trump’s declaration was unprecedented in that no previous declaration involved circumventing Congress to spend money it had not authorized. He’s the first one to abuse the NEA as an attempt to get what he wants.

Before 2018 mid terms, Republicans controlled Congress, the Senate and the House. He HAD that opportunity to get what he wanted done. And yeah, we do want to deal with illegal immigration, just not with an overpriced, useless wall.
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@windinhishair I never have understood the reason for just flat out denying reality and lying. Everything you just said is simply untrue. All of it was a lie.

I can point you to the law itself. I can explain how laws work, the difference between appropriation and discretionary spending. I can list all the times past Presidents have used the same law. I can even go into detail on the 136 powers the law grants the President without any input from Congress whatsoever. I can show you the data you claim doesn't exist. And none if will matter because you'll simply lie.

It doesn't matter what Trump does. You don't want illegal immigration addresses. You see political power in the problem. It really does come down to that.
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@SW-User See above.

@windinhishair & @SW-User: I can't reason with the unreasonable. You're both unreasonable. If your ideology requires this level of dishonesty, your ideology is crap.
SW-User
@Sicarium So is Trump’s ideology. MAGA? Really?
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@SW-User No, your ideology. Stop lying. You want to scream to the moon that Trump is performing some kind of unconstitutional power grab while bowing to Putin when Trump is working within the parameters of a Congressionally passed law. And at the same time, you want to ignore Obama's unilateral dismissal of existing law, which is how we ended up with DACA to begin with.

You're a complete hypocrite. Stop pretending like you give two shits about anything besides your ideological tribalism.

Turning off notifications before you infect me with whatever hypocritical irrationality claimed your mind.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Sicarium It has nothing to do with ideology. It has to do with what is legal or illegal under the Constitution. The Court will find that bypassing Congress based on personal whim is unconstitutional.
SW-User
@Sicarium M’kay bye. 😂
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
You guys realize that Sicarium is a troll right?

He can’t hold a rational discussion to save his own life.
SW-User
@JoeyFoxx I did not realize this. But thanks for letting me know. This is the second time he has turned off his notifications.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@JoeyFoxx Yes, and not a very good one. He can't carry a line of reasoning.
@Sicarium it's amazing how all these people arguing that Trump is breaking some law have no regard for trying to stop illegal crossings to the tune of thousands every month. Along with the illegal substances pouring in with them. Nancy and the gang are disgusting. And just to be balanced on this, Paul Ryan is an idiot! This should have been dealt with in the last congessional session.
OggggO · 36-40, M
@Cheekyshorts Crossings are the lowest they’ve been in over 40 years. Drugs come primarily through ports of entry and other routes that a wall won’t prevent.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@SW-User At the slightest hint of disagreement, he accuses you of lying, and then eventually disappears in a huff. Every time.
SW-User
@QuixoticSoul Ah, that explains his actions.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@QuixoticSoul I was wondering which nutball had blocked me 🤣
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
@JoeyFoxx Yep. And a humorless angry one at that.
LOL “Nutball” good word @Pherick
