Germany was reeling over having lost to the Ww1 allies. They had been forced under the terms of their surrender to cede a large crucial trade route to Poland and its working class people were dying of starvation and lack of heat, and eastern Europe was doing even worse as Socialism was in the process of killing off 90 million anti socialist dissidents, religious people, and wealthy businessmen.
