What did re-electing Senator Byrd for 51 years say?@bijouxbroussard
@Mamapolo2016 So much for “being in the middle”. Did Byrd run for president ? Did I vote for Byrd ? No to both questions.
I do not support Trump. I never have. I also don't support putting words in the mouths of others because it advances an agenda. @bijouxbroussard
@Mamapolo2016 That does not change Trump’s past and present. The words have come from his own mouth and tweets.

@Mamapolo2016 Re, Byrd.
WASHINGTON, DC – The NAACP is saddened by the passing of United States Senator Robert Byrd. Byrd, the longest serving member of congress was first elected to the U.S. House from in 1952 and was elected Senator in 1958. Byrd passed away this morning at the age of 92.

“Senator Byrd reflects the transformative power of this nation,” stated NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous. “Senator Byrd went from being an active member of the KKK to a being a stalwart supporter of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act and many other pieces of seminal legislation that advanced the civil rights and liberties of our country.

“Senator Byrd came to consistently support the NAACP civil rights agenda, doing well on the NAACP Annual Civil Rights Report Card. He stood with us on many issues of crucial importance to our members from the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act, the historic health care legislation of 2010 and his support for the Hate Crimes Prevention legislation,” stated Hilary O. Shelton, Director of the NAACP Washington Bureau and Senior Vice President for Advocacy and Policy. “Senator Byrd was a master of the Senate Rules, and helped strategize passage of legislation that helped millions of Americans. He will be sorely missed.”
I don't know, what does it say?
@QuixoticSoul To me, it says professional politician who learned how to get elected (join the KKK) and how to keep getting elected (leave the KKK). Trump is an ass. That does not mean people who voted for him are racist.

@Mamapolo2016 Byrd left the KKK long before ran for office.

@Mamapolo2016 Yup, in fact "I left the KKK" was part of his initial campaign. And his voting record supports that he indeed left their ideology firmly in the past. He never stopped apologizing for it either.
@Mamapolo2016 Then, it can be said for those who still support him. At best, racism doesn’t bother them.
I'm not as smart as you are. I can't read minds.@bijouxbroussard
@Mamapolo2016 You have more insight about folks than most, MamaP. I imagine you’re rarely not seeing what is in plain view.
