Election reform?

This one I think is something both sides can agree on. We do need to reform the way we run our elections. But sadly because the two major parties hold all the power, it's probably one of the hardest possible changes to make.

What reforms do you think are necessary?

One person, one vote. Its the democratic way to go. Wby should some people have more?
St0ut · 51-55, M
@lorne13 they don’t
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@lorne13 Mob rule is never a good thing.

@St0ut some states with fewer people get equal represebtation though
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@St0ut @hippyjoe1955 @lorne13 We could do both. The presidency can be by popular vote, but the Senate can still have 2 senators per state, ensuring their interests are protected.

@Xuan12 no. And bth. This is a constitutional issue. Which would require the mid west states to agree to it. So. This issue is moot
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@St0ut Naw. The constitution can be amended by a 2/3 vote of both houses, or 2/3 vote of the states. In either case, you can completely lack support from at least 16 states and still pass an amendment.

@Xuan12vt nh ri me nm wv ky tn ak al wy ia id mn sd nd ut mo ok in wi in nb hi or There 25 states that would not approve
Basically any state with less that 10 electoral votes would not vote for this.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@St0ut Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't. You're assuming everything thinks like you do or values the same things you do.
St0ut · 51-55, M
@Xuan12 and you want to disenfranchise the Midwest
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@St0ut Wouldn't say I want to. Heck, if I had my actual way they'd probably be better represented. But that ain't gonna happen, and if present demographic trends keep up they're going to turn purple anyway, so it may not matter.
