Ladies and gentlemen, do you support the government funding "the wall" and actively enforcing immigration laws?

Ya know, the problem with Nancy's statement that the "wall is immoral" is that, in the abstract, its just a wall. Barriers make sense in some places. Funding Donald Trump's wall, on the other hand, I find pretty morally objectionable, because I find him pretty morally objectionable for any number of reasons.

Honestly, with "actively enforcing immigration laws" its almost the same thing. Laws should generally be enforced, just like they should be revised at times. But Trump is just, IMO, really not the guy you ought to pick to enforce any laws. The fact that the administration admitted it was deliberately separating children from parents to deter immigration and then tried to walk that one back kind of tells you that there's something wrong with the process.

I know the Anti-Trump thing gets boring, and I'm pretty sure your question was meant to avoid talking about the man, as opposed to some of his policies, but in this particular case, its pretty hard to separate the two.

Securing the border and reforming the immigration system are valid political goals, and could be the basis of a bipartisan effort. But the "wall", Trump's prioritizing it to the point of shutting down the goverment for a month, and lying about the nature and causes of the crisis are, in my humble opinion, unacceptable, especially when backed by threats of subverting Congressional authority if a co-equal branch of government doesn't give him what he wants.

I honestly don't mind if he tries to sell the wall tonight, and I'm innured to his constant lying enough to overlook a lot of that. But, if he stands in that House Chamber and says, if you won't give it to me, Congress, I'll do it without you, well, lets just say, I'm going to make sure there are only pillows around to throw at the screen.
