Well, would you look at that. For the last 50 years, it does not matter which party has been in power, they are broadly in line with the average outlays and average revenues.

@Wol62 Then I'll do it. We're like a drunken sailor at the bar on Friday with $800 in his pocket and $900 due for rent. Once he figures he can't make rent he declares 'Fuck it' and starts buying drinks for everyone like he's got more than he knows what to do with.

Your point is well-taken. But like it or not, we are in fact a 'we' - each of us with our sacred cow, be it defense, welfare or foreign aid.

@hlpflwthat I'd say it's more like a new CEO, who promises to cut costs and raise profits, but then finds out it's not that easy. So they get fired a new one comes in and makes similar promises and they can't do it either.
