Please can we have another public vote to settle it, once and for all!
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@TheConstantGardener 🤔......You mean like the last one did ?
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
@Picklebobble2 There was one before that too?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@TheConstantGardener the 'Remain' or 'Leave' vote was a referendum remember ?
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
@Picklebobble2 But they can't agree so we have to have the final say 🤷🏻‍♂️
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@TheConstantGardener Looks like it's heading that way. Problem is May has a nothing majority in the Commons, if you throw it open to a public vote and she should lose again, that means Labour will again try and get an election.
And the result of THAT may leave us no better off !
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
@Picklebobble2 I just need to see options on the paper:

PM's deal

No deal

Remain ✅
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@TheConstantGardener So how does that help exactly ? With the country AND it's politicians split down the middle over so many issues, especially Europe ?
Supposing the EU turn around and say ..."No ! you agreed to leave, so please leave !"
Whatever the result of any future referendum at home ?
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@TheConstantGardener no not another vote , we had one and we voted to leave now time to honour that result and leave eu

TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
@Picklebobble2 The EU have already said that they would postpone Article 50 in the event of another referendum or a general election so there wouldn't be any push to leave from them.

It would help, in that it would give a final say back to the people. We now know exactly what the PM has managed to negotiate after 2.5 years. We also understand the options and the implications much better than we did in June 2016.

In the event of no other solution coming from Parliament we will leave on a No Deal Brexit, which almost everyone says is a very bad thing. Putting it back to the people gives it closure and that can only help.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@TheConstantGardener yes EU have agreed on that only reason being they want to keep us in the EU and no other reason
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
@Nyloncapes We had a vote to join in 1975 but the hard right never accepted it. I don't see that another referendum is a bad thing. At least it's democratic.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@TheConstantGardener you say democratic , what about the vote we had and democracy, we voted leave , can't keep having referendums till remain get what they want it would be never ending
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Nyloncapes And therein lies the trouble !
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
@Nyloncapes I don't think that anyone is calling for a series of votes, just one final vote on what kind of Brexit we have.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@TheConstantGardener so if there is another vote the question remain in EU should not be an option on the voting paper then
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@TheConstantGardener ....and what of the original majority in the original vote ?

It's NOT the public's fault their representatives are idiots !
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
@Nyloncapes Some may say that and there's a good case to be made for that. I personally would prefer it to be there for anyone who thinks that the other options are not what they want or were not what they were hoping for when they voted for Leave in the first vote.
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
@Picklebobble2 True but we are where we are.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@Picklebobble2 so true had any of the people who negotiated Brexit ever negotiated anything before in there life's let alone something as massive as this
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Nyloncapes Which begs the question How in the hell did we (the UK) invest SO MUCH time; energy and MONEY in something that our representatives CLEARLY didn't UNDERSTAND before leading us into it ?
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@TheConstantGardener I respect your views , but i think and justmy opinion that should not be an option, and I do think that leave would win again by bigger majority they have see what the EU is really like
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
@Nyloncapes Nothing to worry about in having another vote then. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@Picklebobble2 yes it makes you wonder ,
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@TheConstantGardener not a worry but it's not right we had one and now time to honour the result, as if we did have another one the remainers would still not accept it and we would still be in the same boat
