Clarkson is a bloody Tory.

@Mustermann Exactly.

(He's also, incidentally, in favour of Remaining, again unlike the current leader of the alleged Opposition)

If you tell the people "we will implement what you decide" then you better go through with it. The Labour party is right in respecting the result of the referendum.

@Mustermann I don't see the guy who said that anywhere in the House of Commons any more 👀

Can't say that I miss him but he said that as a promise from the government to the people. For any government to break that promise would be right out undemocratic.

@Mustermann it's a different government anyway, but our constitution rests on Parliament deciding such issues.

The UK isn't a democracy, it's a constitutional monarchy, or more accurately perhaps a 'crowned republic'.

But if we're genuinely worried about democracy then the best thing would be to present the electorate with a range of options, spelling out the potential consequences of each. Since "Leave" has almost as many opinions as there were votes for it, would seem to be sensible.

Then we can ban referenda forever.
