May urges MPs to have a 'second look' at her Brexit deal.

The turd has been polished so maybe it shines.

I've read the whole of this thread, I listened to Jeremy Corbyn looking not-very-statesman-like whilst calling for a vote of no-confidence; I saw enough of Andrew Neil's programme on BBC2, with the likes of Alastair Campbell trotting out the same old crap...... Are all the people here so naive as to not suppose that the real negotiations have been going for the past 2 years in secret? Germany cannot afford not to export their cars to the UK - the ownership of Rolls Royce and Mini (by BMW) and Bentley (by VAG) without a deal would be contentious to say the least. Do the correspondents here really believe that Angela Merkel's government have been waiting patiently for the outcome of negotiations? As one German writer succinctly put in the FT: negotiations being undertaken by a Frenchman on behalf of all the countries of the EU! And no matter how much sabre-rattling the jumped-up EU officials indulge in to discourage the truth of the Commission's institutional corruption coming out into the open, they too know that a poor Germany will spell the end of their little gravy train.

Get real, people - this charade is all smoke and mirrors!

Bottom line it is economic power from both sides that has been exerted. Politics interfered and intruded into business, business will always retaliate and with their methods.

@Longleggedlady It might help if you put some punctuation in. I think I understand what you're trying to say but I'm by no means certain.

@ArtieKat I have edited it now. Businesses of the size of those are not going to lie down and walk away from big market. I myself won't lie down and walk away from what has taken me almost 7 years of hardwork, with sometimes 18+ hour days to build so I financially backed blocking it and will happily provide the same again if that is what it takes to cancel it. If that not work I will provide funds to Scots for Indyref 2.

@Longleggedlady Your assessment is very different from mine. This whole Brexit/Scottish Independence issue reminds me of the Millenium Bug when aircraft were going to fall like lemmings out of the sky. Nicola Sturgeon et al know that the EU are not going to accept them without going through a lengthy application process - and without the money from Westminster Scotland would be bankrupt in a very short space of time. Even Alex Salmond no longer believes that oil and gas revenues are enough to balance the books. As I said earlier, deals are being done in darkened rooms. The rest is just smoke and mirrors for the gullible public.

P.S. I think you're missing my main point about the German automotive industry when you say "Businesses of the size of those are not going to lie down and walk away from big market." The German government can't afford for those businesses to suffer financial losses, no matter what form of solidarity with the other members of the EU Angela Merkel may show in public. Germany bankrolls the whole EU caboodle........

@ArtieKat As you said deals done in darkened rooms, who says one has not been done for Scotland already. I have experience of darkened rooms deals

@Longleggedlady The EU and independent Scottish membership?
Longleggedlady · 31-35, F
@ArtieKat Who knows???
ArtieKat · M
@Longleggedlady Indeed - though as a pragmatist I think that one is unlikely.

@ArtieKat I actually agree with you it is smoke and mirror crap when I vote in general elections I try to figure out who is telling the least amount or smallest porkies but actually never count on or expect them doing anything much

@Longleggedlady I voted for the first time in my life in the Brexit referendum. When I was young I read that it doesn't matter which political party you vote for because the government always gets in (elected). One of those humorous truisms.

I am having dispute with local council at the moment I want them to come clean up all the fallen leaves and fix the two potholes near my gate at home the leaves because they are very slippery and also keep covering the potholes they tell me they don't have the money to do it , so I told them I don't have the money to pay Council tax either because I had to pay for new tyre's because of the holes

@Longleggedlady They (councils) have all got money for pet projects but not for frontline services. My local council - Labour controlled - pleads poverty but lends money to other councils at discounted rates.
