Americans: how long do you think the shut-down will last and how will it end?

I'm not asking what you want to happen but what you think will happen. To me, it seems that it could go on a long time because both sides are committed to a position. I guess it's a binary choice: you build a wall or you don't.

I think it will get a lot worse, Trump doesn't seem like he's budging. In all honesty it's like someone said here, he's actually got all these options for protecting our border but he specifically wants a wall to please his base and only his base.

It's really stupid in all honesty but I think this is going to last awhile and things will get to the point that the Army and others in higher power will start to find out they won't be getting paid from the shut down and either cave or finally impeach Trump. I don't think a GOVT shutdown should be legal because we kind of need the Govt to run things and if they don't want to run things then maybe we should start finding people who will.

@SatanBurger That anyone can stop public servants getting paid like this only points up the stupidity of the system. Such appropriations should be automatic. Money for capital works like a wall or a Military base is one thing. Ongoing expenditure is another entirely. Since this is a distraction only, it doesnt worry Trump if it goes on forever. As long as it keeps other things out of the headlines.. And the Democrats cant afford to give an inch , or he will claim a major victory. This is going to take a while.

@whowasthatmaskedman To me the system is both stupid and corrupt, they shouldn't be "allowed" to actually stop the Govt in the first place. Like it shouldn't be a presidential power.

@AgapeLove That metaphor about mowing lawns was a perfect example of how I feel about this shutdown. I just want to stand both sides in a corner and give them a time out.

@AgapeLove Yeah I'm hyperbolic sometimes only when specifically writing because I find it expresses what I feel more about the situation than not.

@SatanBurger I agree. And now the real reason for Trumps attention seeking becomes apparent. Cohen, his long time Lawyer and fix it man has agreed to testify before Congress.
This is likely to be rather a bare knuckle session compared to to the politically correct effort Mueller would have had to observe to stay out of the minefield.
I can imagine Trump already painting "Fake News" signs. Of course The question that hasnt been asked yet is why such a business genius like Trump would hire and keep such a lying scumbag as Cohen so close for so long.
I think we all know the answer and its going to be fun to watch.
And this in not the main event. This isnt even the curtain raiser.
