Interesting. What are your thoughts on gender issues in today's world? There are those who identify as many different sexualities, ace, asexual, bisexual and identify as the gender of their choice. What do you think people should do to incorporate these people and make them feel welcomed in society?
@SW-User I think that gender is a spectrum and not really a binary and the sooner society realizes that and starts to tolerate it the better. Honestly personally I'm about 70% feminine and 30% masculine. So I kind of identify at least on here as female.

I don't really think of the feminine or the masculine as essential qualities of either sex. They're abstractions.

personally It's not really the women in my life that have a problem with my feminine half it's the men who bully and think I'm GAY or something because I have a well developed female side.

I don't know about you but most of the gay men I know prefer them masculine and muscular.

I'm feminine sure but I'm only into women and I wish that they wouldn't presume I was homosexual.

You know for some reason we treat Transwomen as if they're just gay men for whom being gay wasn't enough and we decided to go supersaiyan and become female in order to satisfy our selves and Honestly That's not the case at all.

I don't know what to tell you to do to incorporate those people into society and make them feel welcomed but I think just keeping an open mind and realizing that Gender isn't really Binary and accepting those of us who don't fit into the narrow boxes Is helpful.

@BetweenKittensandRiots I think many people presume because that is what is extremely common for them. In my life, nearly every single feminine man I've encountered was gay or in rarer instances, bisexual. You make great points though. Being trans doesn't always mean that one is gay.
@SW-User Femininity is more complex than just outward physicality. I mean it frustrates me that the common understanding when I say I'm on that side of things is to think I want to dress up as female and cross dress and wear lipstick and that sort of thing- Don't get me wrong. I feel like when my outward expression is more feminine I'm being more honest with the world about what's on the inside but I mean we codify a lot of things as feminine. Liking certain bands, being into Romantic fiction, being a fangirl, etc. I've been harassed for either being high or gay every time I express vulnerability. just because I like certain stuff or because of my taste in music. Or the fact that I'm dependent on my father. for instance.

honestly one of the reasons I identify that way is what I'm a fan of.

The fact that romantic ships are one of the primary reasons I watch the shows I do.

@SW-User I just get frustrated because society basically treats it if I say I'm feminine as if I'm jealous of women's fashion and want to dress up as a girl. For some reason the main thing we notice about women as a Society is how they look. You know as somebody that's been in several long term relationships that's not the primary thing that remains long after a breakup or what I think about my current partner.

mon a'mour has a big heart. She cares about a lot of people and is very empathetic. That's the quality I fell in love with.

she's beautiful sure but that's not it.

It bothers me that the only thing society seems to associate with women is how they appear. It's like our conception of what is feminine is horrifically shallow.

I guess that's because that's literally HOW society perceives things. Visually. Society visualizes whether a woman is a woman according to either the shape of her body or what she wears. Most people would be unwilling to alter that mindset because it's literally what they've been taught all their life.

I am keeping an open mind here but if I were a guy who wanted to wear make-up or do things that are commonly associated with being feminine, I would do them and I would make damn sure that no one makes me feel less valid because of it. Men and women are should do whatever they wish despite gender stereotypes...at least that's how I view it.

I'm simply trying to understand why anyone would wish to identify as a gender other than their birth sex in order to feel comfortable doing things commonly associated with that specific gender. If that makes sense.
@SW-User I have a beard. I kind of present outwardly as masculine. I don't shave every day. I'm kind of inconsistent about staying clean shaven. It's not the way I look that bothers me. It's the expectations people place on me because I was born male that bother me. Social dysphoria is a lot more intense than body dysphoria. Society expects men to be the breadwinner. It puts provider expectations on men for instance. It expects us to be stoic and unemotional and spock like from star trek.

We're not allowed to express emotions other than Anger as a gender. Perhaps horniness. But not true intimacy or vulnerability with women.

It's what we expect from guys-that's where the mismatch comes in.

It's Social and Identity dysphoria. I don't identify as male and I certainly resent the expectations placed on me because I possess a penis.

@BetweenKittensandRiots Society does indeed have seriously degrading expectations between the genders. That can be seriously damaging to trans people who just want to be themselves. I work constantly to reinforce the fact that no one should be obligated to act a certain way due to what their genitalia is. This isn't the 1950's anymore thank goodness. Things change and so does humanity. Why folks are so obsessed with such things is beyond me.
@SW-User A lot of the Boomers are nostalgic for the Teenage pregnancy 1950s for some reason.

That world is gone and I don't even miss it. Course I wasn't alive for it but I can tell because they're always going on and on about the "Good ole days"
@SW-User there's a reason why pleasentville is one of my favorite movies.

@BetweenKittensandRiots Because they're nostalgic for a time when women were cattle and non white races were looked down upon. Notice how you never see African American's talking that same nonsense. Maybe the economy was better and the happy home lifestyle was one of the most positive aspects of it but life is different now. That "Make America Great" talk makes me wonder what were the actual great days and who it was great for.
@SW-User Bigotry isn't about hatred it's about power and privilege. I swear ujames is right in what he says about it. [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdYM7gI1ric]
@SW-User When Trump says make america great again I want to confront him and ask him when he thought america was great? During Slavery? Before women had the vote? During segregation? when George Wallace stood in the school house doors to prevent integration? WHEN Donald? When was it great?
