I know coal miners will never read this because they don't use social media but government regulation didn't kill your industry. It was competition from natural gas that did it in. And besides that Solar and wind are projected to be cheaper than natural gas by 2020. Coal mining is never coming back. Not the way it used to. This country is moving on. I don't know what to tell you. I know you want to believe Donald Trump's false promises to you but The economies of Appalachia need to move on. You need to diversify away from Coal. I don't know why you have so much faith in your republican leaders and yet think Democrats are economically incompetent when you've voted Republican year after year yet all the GOP did was allow your states to be entirely reliant on a single natural resource. If they were really economically smart they would have put the eggs of your community in many many industries. The central rule of investing is to spread your Risk around. Well republican leaders put all of your eggs in the coal mining basket and look at what happened? Coal is dying and your whole community is stuck in the past. It's NEVER going to be what it was again. I know you don't like hearing the truth but I refuse to sell you on false promises and tell you lies about bringing coal back the way trump did. I think what Trump did to you was wicked. He promised you things he cannot deliver on. These people are desperate for hope and he gave you false hope. That's evil. That way of life is already over. It's on it's way out.
Even China is moving away from coal. The only reason there is any coal mines in the US at all is essentially a government works program to kick the can down the road because they have no plan B for those people who are already the poorest in the country.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I know. it's horrible watching this happen. These people's whole way of life is OVER and yet they cling to false hope and keep voting for people who don't have a good plan to bring their economy back. Just tell them you'll bring back Coal and they'll vote for you but Coal is never ever coming back.
This will likely go the same way as asbestos mining in Canada. Keep up the fiction till there are so few left it is cheaper to retrain a few hundred miners.
