Trump outright lied (as usual) and claimed he wasn’t trying to do business in Russia while running for president. But it certainly explains why:
1) He refuses to release his tax info—still
2) He refuses to divest from his business interests (generally done so there is no conflict of interest, even in appearance).

Corrupt, corrupt, corrupt. And the GOP allows it.

@bijouxbroussard It is foolhardy to believe what politicians tell you at best
No business person would ever if he has one inch of business sense completely walk away from their business they may appoint someone to run and look after on the surface but will always keep the decision making to themselves on the background
@Longleggedlady He has his son, son in law and his daughter involved in his business already. It would’ve been a simple enough process to transfer his interests to them on paper during his presidency—neatly separate—but he wasn’t even willing to do that. Plus, when asked, he lied, and he went back on a stated promise to release his taxes.

I am not condoning or justifying his actions yes it would be simple but even if it was done on paper it would look better but would it be really doing it or just a paper exercise I would seriously doubt it being real
Oh business people do not actually lie they merely omit some of the facts

But take a step back put yourself in his position would you do it if it was your company

The tax thing is not unique to him either most big businesses will delay and delay until the bitter end they employ expert staff to do it the longer they can keep hold of the money etc the more money they make like there is a difference between tax evasion which is illegal and tax avoidance which is reducing your tax liability so you don't pay as much but doing it in a perfectly legal way once again big businesses employ super qualified people to do this
@Longleggedlady Putting myself in his place—ha ! If I had criticized my predecessor and demanded that he produce his birth certificate, college transcripts, grades, etc.as “proof” he was a U.S. citizen and a college graduate (and items no one else was requesting from a sitting president who had already been vetted before running for office), if I’d made the promise to abide by existing guidelines of behavior and said I’d submit my taxes several times as a candidate, I’d have kept those promises, as previous candidates with businesses have done. But, yeah—that’s me. I’d have also felt particularly honor-bound to do so if I’d previously made such an issue of “transparency” with my predecessor. Can you say “hypocrite” ? 😳

@bijouxbroussard the basic problem is that Americans put a man in as President who has little if any political knowledge and pretty much done on hype
Secondly to most ordinary people there is Right and other is Wrong
In business there is Right but no real Wrong apart from not making money
Business concert's what ordinary people view as wrong or unfair etc into grey areas that are legal but not considered by ordinary people to be fair or nice
They delay omit facts etc etc
Painting the guy before you as bad is nothing more than trying to distract from having no idea etc how to fix things you just keep on blaming the person for what is Wrong or messed up
Was there ever a definite promise of submitting tax info at or by a specific date doubt it ????
@Longleggedlady Of course. He was supposed to do it before he even became president. He said he would. But he kept stalling, and the GOP didn’t insist, because of the divisiveness and corruption.

Perhaps they are themselves worried that something they don't want public will be revealed
@Longleggedlady That’s clearly the case. Hence, the corruption. It has to come out at some point.

@bijouxbroussard it will most likely suffer the same fate as Panama Papers and get buried if too many have too much too lose
@Longleggedlady Mueller is actively investigating, so there will have to be some resolution.
Longleggedlady · 36-40, F
They investigate and then only reveal what they want public to know it is away of making the public feel that something is actually being done about it sometimes they get down the trail and at some point they get a two fingered salute
@Longleggedlady Well, we shall see. There is a precedent. I’m old enough to remember how Watergate all came tumbling down. A lot will depend on how Trump reacts.

People had morals back then
@Longleggedlady I wouldn’t say that, lol. But the government at least followed the rule of law.
Longleggedlady · 36-40, F
That is outdated concept now it is now more or less just a guideline
