Is Trump making the same mistake as past presidents have by declaring victory too early over ISIS?

I don't think so. I haven't heard him declare any victory at all as a matter of fact.

@Budwick according to Daily Mail he has, though to be fair DM is one of the least reliable British tabloid around.

@PikachuTrainer The president and I both live in the United States. I don't read Daily Mail. It's possible that the publication misrepresented what Trump actually may have said. It happens frequently in the USA.

Trump has noted great successes of the coalition fighting ISIS a number of times. But, I've never heard him declare victory.

@MistyCee Well, how about that! It happened less than an hour ago, Trump said - “We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there..."

In Syria - not that ISIS is done for or no longer a threat - just Syria.

Good news. Thanks Misty!

We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency.

@Budwick The white House Twitter account just added a couple of tweets, like we're still fighting the war and this was just a battle victory.

Governing by tweet seems really chaotic, IMO.

@MistyCee I doubt that's even him that actually tweets most of the time. Probably an aide does half, if not most.
@SheikYerbouti looks like it. The White House account tweets have better Grammer and less misspellings, and usually seem to be professionally drafted and thought through in terms of factual accuracy.

@MistyCee Because when Obama was president, there was a notice that said something like 'Tweets by the President personally will end with BO'.

@Northwest Thanks North. Someone already had provided that helpful information.

I learned later that he intends to pull our troops out of Syria. I think that's a mistake. Same mistake Obama made when he pulled us out of Iraq. We apparently have decimated ISIS in Syria, but the ISIS snake is alive and well elsewhere. When we leave, it will leave a vacuum that ISIS or some jack-wad terror group like it will fill.
