Should Sen. Warren Resign So the Governor Can Appoint a Person of Color to the U.S. Senate?

Elizabeth Warren, Speaking to Black Graduates, Warns ‘the Rules Are Rigged’
BALTIMORE — Senator Elizabeth Warren, in a commencement speech Friday at historically black Morgan State University, mixed her trademark language denouncng economic inequality with more explicit indictments of racial discrimination, giving what could be a preview of a possible appeal to black voters should she run for president.

The system is rigged, Ms. Warren said, but it’s particularly pitted against minority communities — and politicians must recognize those unique challenges and address them.

“Under the rules of commencement speakers I am required to say, ‘Work hard.’ And you should,” Ms. Warren, the Massachusetts Democrat, said. “But I’m here with a bolder message: It’s time to change the rules. Let me say that again for those in the back. Change. The. Rules.”
Kind of ironic coming from Warren, considering that the only African-American nominee since at least World War II for a Senate seat from Massachusetts was a Republican (Edward Brooke).

I really HATE this type of pandering in politics.

I don't think you are being fair. I think its OK for white people to acknowledge that racism is a problem without having to torpedo their careers. If I acknowledge that white-privilege exists (which it does) then I shouldn't have to give up my degree and live in a cardboard box because I have inadvertently benefitted from it.

She is talking about systemic problems and if affluent white people like her are serious about tackling that stuff then its a good thing.

@Burnley123 It's particularly galling to POCs that Warren has made dubious claims as to her own POC status and the people she is appealing to are aware of that.

@SumKindaMunster I Don't think anyone is unaware of that.

@Burnley123 I didn't see it mentioned by anyone else on this post so I felt it needed to be said. You said it wasn't "fair", my take is you reap what you sow.

@SumKindaMunster WTF are you even on about? Everyone knows Warren was stupid for that DNA test thing.

@Burnley123 Which word don't you understand? And if "everyone" already knows, what are you getting all agitated about?

@SumKindaMunster 🙄 Bye

@Burnley123 Bye loser.

At what point, do you remember that every single time you speak to me, you get offended and run off?

Maybe next time you want to adjust your responses accordingly?

Or SHOCKER, stop responding to me?

Crybaby twit.

It's not the "rules" that are the problem. It's people like her (meaning politicians in general) who are in charge of overseeing or enforcing them.

But, anyway, Lizzy Warren should be one of the last people to talk about what's "fair" or not, given how she hood-winked senior citizens out of their homes when flipping houses in the '90s.

I wonder how Lizzy's speech would have gone over if Mary Hickman was black instead of white?
