Polling is typically done at a 95% confidence level, meaning that there is a 95% chance the actually tally is within the margin of error. That also means that 5% (1 in 20) will fall outside that margin.

It's true that the Electoral votes sometimes don't match with popular voting. But then ,that wasn't the goal of the electoral college - was it? The Electoral system is a mechanism that protects liberty and federalism from mob rule. [You are in the mob.]

The Electoral College is a flawed mechanism that should be abolished. It won't exist in 20 years once enough states adopt legislation that provides for electoral votes in the states to go to the popular vote winner. States with close to 200 electoral votes have already passed such legislation. One person, one vote--you've heard of that, right? But you are right--sometimes the Electoral College doesn't match the popular vote, and that's a quirk of the system. Trump was elected by a quirk.
