Brexit the shambles rolls on

SO here we are the democratic vote in Parliament and the Tories decide to scrap the vote because they were going to lose the vote, so much for democracy in OUR country.

This is yet again the Tories saying we want democracy but ONLY if we like it.

Not ONLY this but May cancelled the leaders debate so she didn't have to face the Labour leader but more importantly the people she's meant to represent.

To me if you cant face the people or be held to question by the people you shouldn't be leader let alone the PM.

This is time for a GE

They are desperate, that's why. They see that the whole Brexit thing is crazy, and they initiated it, and now they know no way out of this madness. I can only hope the British people will stop this madness soon.
@helenS Sadly the British people already voted for Brexit, so it will need a second referendum to stop it

@johnbgood Is the old referendum really legally binding? Not sure about that.
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@helenS Thank you, yes this was always a Tory party problem brought to the nation. Yes it is Madness and yet they plough on because they don't want to declare their taxes. The sad thing is the Tories are refusing to go back to the public because they don't believe in democracy unless its in their favour.
@helenS It was carried out legally so the government have to follow the people's opinion. Even if nobody really knew what they were voting for as all the information offered has proven to be wrong.

@johnbgood Thank you - my impression was that the referendum is little more than an expression of public opinion.
@helenS If it had just been done as an opinion poll, yes. But sadly it was done as a referendum

@milkymum1 It's a deep crisis of democracy, in the homeland of liberal democracy. It's scary.

I live in Europe, and I would hate to see you go. Please stay. You British people are Europeans, you are part of the family. 🌷
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@helenS Well that depends if it was legally binding and referendums aren't its a recommendation to the government
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@johnbgood What has been proved wrong?
helenS · 36-40, F
@johnbgood Pretty sad. You good people are stuck in a cul-de-sac. I have no good idea.
@milkymum1 We are not going to control our own laws, or trading agreements, or fishing rights etc.
helenS · 36-40, F
@milkymum1 "its a recommendation to the government
— Yes this was my opinion as well. But I am not an expert.
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@helenS Nor am I but that's how I understood it too.
helenS · 36-40, F
@milkymum1 Binding or not binding - that's something a British High Court would have to decide.
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@johnbgood 1ST We make up 50% of OUR own laws the other 50% OUR MEPS (which wze voted for) can either vote for or not.
2Nd Trading agreements what do you think we get free trade deals?!?! i.e; money or freedom of movement.
3rd Gove said we would give up OUR waters.
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@helenS it was all about ideology which could never be delivered.
milkymum1 · 31-35, F
@helenS Not until the Toris start acting like a democracy and not like a dictatorship and the party before the country and the people.
