Did you hear about riots in Paris?

French are rioting in protest of new carbon tax.

"The anger is mainly over a hike in the diesel fuel tax, which has gone up seven euro cents per liter (nearly 30 U.S. cents per gallon) and will keep climbing in coming years, according to Transport Minister Elisabeth Borne. The tax on gasoline is also to increase four euro cents. Gasoline currently costs about 1.64 euros a liter in Paris ($7.06 a gallon), slightly more than diesel," the AP says.

I guess the French people don't believe that a tax will curb 'climate change".

The Cheese eating surrender monkeys are pissed.
Can't blame them when you look at the tax burden the state puts on them.

@FreeSpirit1 Well, that sounds unnecessarily harsh.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@Budwick I am harsh, it's my nature
Budwick · 70-79, M
@FreeSpirit1 I see, interesting.
Some would call me harsh as well.
I don't have a bone to pick with France - other than I think they come across as kind of uppity with no good reason. I don't drink so they can't lure me with their wine. I do like cheese but I was brought up in Wisconsin - and Wisconsin cheese can't be beat!

@FreeSpirit1 "Can't blame them when you look at the tax burden the state puts on them."

Basic income tax in France is 15% , in the US it is 21%.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@RodionRomanovitch There are many taxes in France besides basic income tax, it can be as high as 48 percent, and climbing every year

RodionRomanovitch · 56-60, M
@FreeSpirit1 And there aren't other taxes also in the US ? (Also your top rate of tax is 40% , not far behind°)

And how much do you imagine healthcare costs add to your overall tax burden ?

France - $4600

US - $10348
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@RodionRomanovitch t Why are you trying to argue with me? The riots are in France not the US and the comment is on their taxes rate not mine. France has one of the highest tax burdens in Europe... I guess you know better than the French rioters?

@FreeSpirit1 I live in France and I kinda like it here so when you make comments like ;

"The Cheese eating surrender monkeys are pissed.
Can't blame them when you look at the tax burden the state puts on them."

..... then you should expect to be called out on both your ignorance and your stupidity.

You can block me now. (Don't forget to insult me first.)
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@RodionRomanovitch I apologize for calling your country cheese eating surrender monkeys. Viva la France
