Okay.. Call me a cynic. But I see some politics in the mix here. I believe this last minute cave in to Europe is a tactic to stiffen popular resolve against a terrible deal , coupled with a refusal to re-hold a referendum. (rightly so) and prepare the people for a hard brexit exit. There will be hardship. But "We cant be blamed, Europe make it hard and we had to dig in because the people said so."

May has this deal because she has been putting off reality and can't do better though. She has done badly but no way the hard Brexiteers could do better. I think they know it too.

@Burnley123 Quite possibly. I dont see May as a leader in this. I think she was always the "acceptable" choice at the time. Maybe a Leader type will emerge now with a position and yell "follow me."
