I figure if a people are "American enough" to serve in the armed services defending this country...
... and if members of that people receive such accolades as the Medal of Honor, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart-- then said people should be citizens of this country.

To be American enough to defend the nation in war, American enough to pay taxes. To be American enough to participate in government to the extent of your ability-- caucuses, delegates.
And to have Americans tell you that you're "not really" Americans despite 100 years of Jones-Shafroth. Just "sort of".
And to have Americans publicly weigh in on your fate, wanting to excise you like a mole.
