Do u believe that Donald Trump is making race relations in the US worse ? 馃捁

I do. It would be rather stupid to ignore his hate filled rhetoric over the past year and pretend that is he is not amplifying the fears of some Americans. And lets also remember his ugly words about the players in the NFL and NBA too.
What do you think. After this latest tragedy here in Pittsburgh, PA, do you believe that Donald Trump is causing some racial tensions to worsen here in the US or even across the globe. Let's talk about it. And while you are at it Google Robert Bowers if you dare. Comments please.

I really don't get how the the right wing people on here see Trump as non racist and Obama as racist.

If you acknowledge that racism exists and take steps to confront it: that does not make you yourself a racist. This is not 'dividing people' but acknowledging that a problem exists. It stems from a desire to have equal or fair treatment for everyone.

The 'colourblind' argument depends on the idea that there is no significant racism in America anymore. Or that 'black priviledge' unfairly disadvantages white people. I don't think either of these things really stack up.

Also, I'm not sure the defenders of Trump can honestly deny that there at least some racists in their ranks or that Trump does play to it. No Americans seem worried by European migrants or religions practiced by people of white skin complexion.

I get that people are angry with the status quo but is it minorities who are exploiting people or the rich?

They are oblivious to statements like: let's have more Norwegians, instead of people from shithole countries.

Indeed, they are racist.

@Burnley123 Obama was racist for being black and talking about racism.

It may seem that way from England with ignorance of what is actually happening. @Burnley123

@AnneHoney OK, maybe I'm ignorant. What part of what I wrote do you think I'm wrong about?
AnneHoney36-40, F
No one thinks there is no racism in the US or GB or anywhere else as I already said. Europeans don鈥檛 illegally cross the border by the millions. Those that overstay visas are informed of punishment and they leave. No one denies racists exist in every large demographic. They do not make up a significant number. They support Trump because the enemy of their enemy is their friend, not because he supports their objectives. The entire racism claim is like what lawyers use in a courtroom to win, truth is irrelevant. Just discussing the topic is the agenda. Just like the Russian collusion baloney. Keep the discussion off the economy that is going great. Off lower drug prices and better health care. Off better care for veterans. If the facts are against you paint the opposition as a rascist, homophob, or hater of another group. Anyone that believes that crap is ignorant or brainwashed. The other issues you mention I have no idea where you got them. Not been an issue here for years except a fight by Asian Americans against colleges that have not admitted them in favor of other minorities with lower grades and test scores. But that is not an issue White鈥檚 are directly involved in.@Burnley123

This was never truly about racism. No one with a brain and is informed thinks Trump is a racist. This is about politics. About keeping 92% of Blacks voting Democrat, the party of the KKK that profits on racism

@AnneHoney
No one thinks there is no racism in the US or GB or anywhere else as I already said.
OK, but if there is racism then surely that is significant and politically significant. I still don't see how supporting a minority cause makes you a racist.
AnneHoney36-40, F
If you know status quo means you party gets 92% of the black vote, do you have real incentive to end racism? The Al Sharpton of this world make millions keeping hate alive.the number of racists that vote is insignificant compared to the number of Hispanics and African Americans. This is why Trump reaches out so hard to those groups because they have 100 times as many votes as racists. @Burnley123
CountScrofula41-45, M
@AnneHoney Saying the Democratic Party is the party of the KKK is intellectually dishonest considering that hasn't been the case for over fifty years. And I don't even like the Democrats.

Politics change over time and white supremacist organizations have been staunchly Republican for decades. But you already know that. Please stop pretending otherwise.
Burnley12341-45, M
@AnneHoney
Al Sharpton
Surely he's just trying to help his own community rather than putting down white people.
CopperCicadaM
@AnneHoney Evoking Al Sharpton sort of betrays a certain level of disconnection.
AnneHoney36-40, F
Sharpton looks out for his Cayman Islands bank accounts. If he can鈥檛 keep hate alive, his income drops. He supports cases proven to be lies.@Burnley123

About 12% of the electorate is African American. About 22% Hispanic. 8 % Asian. White is now less than 50%. Of that 48% or so, 42% are democrats, about 18% independent. Let鈥檚 assume no significant Racists in those groups. Leaving roughly 38% republicans. Let鈥檚 say 1% of republicans are racists which is likely too high.

Mitt Romney got 6% of the Black vote. Trump got over 8%. His current poll numbers are over 10% of Blacks. Maybe you think those Blacks decided to be racists.

You are running for POTUS would you rather increase your Black and Hispanic vote, about 34% of the electorate or increase the vote of the at most 3% racists?

Racist claims against Trump like the antiSemitic claims are absurd. They are there to sway votes. Truth is irrelevant when it means votes. The hate and violence the Democrats are supporting is an attempt to get their base to vote. Yet another Republican campaign HdQt was shot into today. Thankfully no one was killed. Yet no Dems call for an end to the violence, only try to use the violence to attack Trump.

They can not beat Trump on the issues. They never even bring any up. So you try to use hate against the individual. A flawed individual no doubt. But racist? No chance.

@AnneHoney Youre not convincing anyone here that he isn't a racist..you're wasting your time
Burnley12341-45, M
@AnneHoney So the Democrats invent claims of racism to win elections and the majority of black people are fooled into wrongly believing that racism exists and their primary voting loyalty is based around solving an invented problem because only one percent of Americans are racists. In spite of them never having experienced any racism in their lives, they still want to vote based on claims of racism invented by the media and a political party.

The legacy of slavery has no impact now and the civil rights movement of fifty years ago permanently ended racism as an American problem. There is no institutional racism in the police or any other government service.

I don't believe any of that. It's just that racism is more subtle and hides behind dog whistles and plausible deniability. The reason why the South stopped voting Democrat was because LBJ backed the civil rights movement. Southern whites vote rebublican to this day.

@AnneHoney Your argument is stale and old, and typical of a Right wing ideological bigot. Nobody cares about Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson.
Nobody cares about Black Lives Matter, or the Black Panthers. These are if anything nothing more than White Liberal groups that are used in propaganda.
You sound like an old redneck hick from Mississppi, but I know your brain is not big enough to grasp that all Black people are not the same.
