Trump Eliminated Programs to Counter Violent Extremism

Tell me again how Trump supports the fight against discrimination...

In the waning days of Barack Obama’s administration, the Department of Homeland Security awarded a set of grants to organizations working to counter violent extremism, including among white supremacists. One of the grantees was Life After Hate, which The Hill has called “one of the only programs in the U.S. devoted to helping people leave neo-Nazi and other white supremacy groups.” Another grant went to researchers at the University of North Carolina who were helping young people develop media campaigns aimed at preventing their peers from embracing white supremacy and other violent ideologies. But soon after Trump took office, his administration canceled both of these grants. In its first budget, it requested no funding for any grants in this field.

Speaking of countering extremism, Trump is back at it this morning, tweeting that media is the enemy of the people

@Northwest He couldn't even keep his mouth of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He really seems to believe the world hangs on his every opinion.

The government ended discrimination in 1965. You’re just spreading the smokescreen
@SW-User The GOP took the teeth out of the Voters’ Rights Act in the 21st century, with the excuse that there were “fewer instances of outright discrimination” so it was “unnecessary”. In fact there have continued to be attempts by redlining, but the act had prevented them from being successful. Now in several red states people have arbitrarily been purged from the voter rolls. So we are going back to the “bad old days” of disenfranchisement and discrimination.

@Graylight Everything you just said was wrong. While yes black discrimination was the reason behind the bill, the bill protects discrimination from race, sexual orientation, and religion. What you just posted proves you don’t want to debate and see it from the other side. You just want to bitch and repeat what you hear on TV you and people like you that’s on both sides of politics are the problem. Until people like you realize we won’t fix shit with this country until we can meet in the middle, things will never change. Lose your ego and think what’s best for the country on every issue we are facing not what’s best for your party.

I guess they need to hire better grant writers
@MarineBob No, they need to get rid of the freaking Klansmen in the White House.
