And how again is it racist to show an ID to vote?

The documents acceptable for proving voters’ identity in North Carolina were the ones disproportionately held by whites, such as driver’s licenses, U.S. passports, and veteran and military IDs, and the ones that were left out were the ones often held by poor minority voters, such as student IDs, government employee IDs and public assistance IDs. The Texas voter ID law was designed the same way: There, officials accepted concealed-weapon licenses but not student or state employee IDs. The Texas legislature was repeatedly advised of the likely effect on minority voters but rebuffed nearly all amendments that would have eased its harsh impact.

@mrbuddhawannabe that is a load of crap. States require a minimum of a state ID once you are 18
MethDozer · M
@Harley4Life No one, nowhere is required to have an ID on them at any age by law.
@MethDozer bullshit. That is NOT true. Depending on the state the laws are different when you have to show it but you are required to have one
MethDozer · M
@Harley4LifeNope. No state has a law requiring a person to carry ID and it is UnConstitutional to require one to be carried at all times.

You are by law required to have ID in the US just because you left the house. Not anywhere.
@MethDozer wrong answer. Take a look at the motor vehicle code and see what it states about an ID when operating a vehicle
MethDozer · M
@Harley4Life Moving of the goal posts. Try again. You are required to be able to prove you are legally liscensed to drive while operating a motor vehicle. You are not however required by law to carry ID. You cannot be arrested and charged for not having an ID in the US.
The closets it gets is that in some states a police officer can detain a person suspected of criminal activity until their identity is verified.

@MethDozer hate to burst your bubble but you are not entirely correct. In Texas you are required to have your drivers license on you when operating a vehicle. The only reason I know this is that I have been studying with my daughter for her license/learners permit. If I am a passenger I am not required to carry a valid drivers license unless I am with someone that had a learners permit, my daughter being the example. Yes this is in the Texas DMV handbook.

@Scubaguy027 Yes, but that is not a requirement for personal Identification . It is a requirement to have proof of being legally able to drive while operating a vehicle. Already addressed this and as you state you do not need it if you are a passenger of a licensed driver as would be the case if there was an actual law requiring citizens to carry personal ID.

There is a legal difference.
@MethDozer last time I checked a drivers license is a form of personal identification so your argument is invalid and you are wrong.
MethDozer · M
@Harley4Life Yet it is not a requirement for people to carry and show ID as a rule. So I am correct.

You state that there is an ID requirement in the US, there is not.
