Every political position in my town is republican in fact for most a democrat doesn't even try anymore. I maybe a dyed in the wool republican but this is dangerous to have no opposition

Glad to see we agree on something. You need an exchange of power and push and pull of ideas.

@CountScrofula I found out yesterday our former mayor held the position for 25
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Mountainlady16 Yeaaah that's not cool. My mother is the mayor in my town and even I think she shouldn't have the job for that long!

@CountScrofula and he wasn't voted out he died in office
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Mountainlady16 Hahaha good lord. Yeah that's how you get corruption. If you change who is in charge it's harder to do favours for friends.

@CountScrofula to the libs there is no exchange of power , there is only power at any price .
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@TexChik I can very easily accuse the GOP of the same thing.

All political parties want to stay in power. That's why they exist. The goal is to have a system, and checks and balances to make sure they aren't in power permanently.

@CountScrofula yes the checks and balances the liberals superseded in order to try and and frame a sitting president... a crime that is weighing heavy on the libs involved.

@TexChik You live in a truly fascinating alternate reality.

@SeanColorado Don't step up to bat if you can't hit the ball.

@OggggO pffft the libs only have one pitch 🙄

@CountScrofula it's like my church's deacons until last few years they served for life once elected now they have to be relected every year and head deacon every year. With no guy holding head deacon 2 years in a row. Now we just need to do something about the seats that are practically family seats with just about every time a new deacon is elected it's usually the son or grandson of the man that held the seat before

@Mountainlady16 That's a good system.

One of the big things that makes a democracy a democracy is peaceful exchange of power. Can one person give up power without causing a political crisis or even a war. That's what keeps your freedoms free. Leaders are like diapers, they need to be changed often and for the same reason.
