What does race have to do with this? I will be voting, got to keep democrats out of office.
bijouxbroussard · F
@JP1119 That’s true, but Southern strategy worked well in driving most blacks out of the Republican Party and luring former “Dixiecrats” in.
bijouxbroussard · F
@GunSmoke9 Do you have to be blind to anything that doesn’t affect white men ? I think it’s deliberate, actually.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard Is this the party that now takes the black vote for granted? That keeps thinking blacks are victims?

That was the entire focus of the GOP's southern strategy...to give the racist Dixiecrats a place to land after they felt alienated by the Democratic Party after civil rights laws were passed. Prior to Trump, Republicans were nuanced enough to work that strategy with some plausible deniability. Trump just ran an overtly ham-fisted version of the same old playbook.

@GunSmoke9 As opposed to the conservatives, who keep trying to make certain they are.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard Unlike you and a lot on the left I don't look at things based on race or gender. I look at politics to see how they help or hurt ALL people and the country.
bijouxbroussard · F
@GunSmoke9 Lol, you can’t see it. You wouldn’t know if anyone who isn’t white or male is being hurt, because you don’t see beyond that limited, privileged perspective.
bijouxbroussard · F
@MarineBob Comparable to the Republicans “anti-woman” club ? Not at all.
bijouxbroussard · F
@JP1119 It should be. But when some folks still ask “what racism ?” or “what anti-woman agenda ?” you know it’s not affecting them, and they’re not paying attention to anyone else.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard What privilege? How do you know what I know or feel or see?I don't live in an upper class white neighborhood. You're clueless who assumes a lot.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard That they are what? You don't understand conservatives at all.
bijouxbroussard · F
@GunSmoke9 Your face is your privilege. What people see and assume is your privilege. That people probably assume you’re not a thief and are telling the truth is your privilege. Nothing to do with wealth.
bijouxbroussard · F
@GunSmoke9 Racism and misogyny. Keep up.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard Bullshit. Like the small store owners who follow me or have someone else follow me while I look around? Or the shoe store owner, who gave me only one shoe to try on before he got paid? Thinking I was going to run you know a thief. Or being told we only hire women?
JP1119 · 36-40, M
@GunSmoke9 I'm still confused though.
I don't believe I ever suggested that race had anything to do with Kavanaugh's hearing.
If things are good for all they are good for the country
Yeah, duh. But how does that lead to a different outcome than thinking about it in terms of race or gender? If X is not good for women or for blacks, then X is not good for all, therefore X is not good for the country. Am I making sense?I don't believe I ever suggested that race had anything to do with Kavanaugh's hearing.
That they are what? You don't understand conservatives at all.
If you're referring to the comment I think you're referring to, then I'm pretty sure what bijouxbroussard was trying to say was that conservatives keep trying to make sure that blacks are victims.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard Again bullshit. Conservatives stand for state rights, capitalism, the free market, less government control, power. You sound like a broken record. Racism, racism. Keep playing the victim card like the democrat party does to keep getting the black vote.
bijouxbroussard · F
@GunSmoke9 It’s not a card game although I realize conservatives like to trivialize and dismiss it as such.
bijouxbroussard · F
@GunSmoke9 States’ rights, unless we’re talking about weed or sanctuary cities-(which I don’t support, but that’s neither here nor there) or net neutrality (Trump is suing us, you know ?) less government control, unless we’re talking about marriage equality or a woman’s body.
