Is politics just reality TV to be watched by viewers who think they are smart?

I include myself in this. It's personality battles and morality tales and did he didn't she. We care about the issues but individual characters give us the emotional connection to the soap opera. Because of that, the said issues often get lost in all the noise and we just end up cheering when the other team gets someone voted off the island. Meanwhile the world keeps spinning... and slowly gets worse.

I think we live in really sad times.
Everybody wants to rule the world yet those who do have no idea what they're doing !
The Kavanagh thing is interesting in that for some reason the Trump administration seem desperate to get him in there, yet he seems beset by scandal and poor decision making at best. And somebody bereft of acknowledgement and apology at worst !
And THIS is the example he wants in the highest court ??
It is a form of reality tv, no question. It almost makes sense that a former reality tv host is now president, when one looks at it that way. 😳

It’s been getting worse for the last 2 or 3 years. The soap opera stuff tends to distract from some important issues.

Eh as long as we don't burn like Rome I'll call it good but when it gets to that point, I'll just give up and cry lol 😂

It is disgusting.

@Miram Could it be different though. I'm really bored with all theses Kavanagh posts. Its a proxy for feminist issues, sure so it does matter but it soaks up everything else. Like I say, it's an issue about a person and it's a distraction from other things.

Possibly, but the proof is the bottom line for everyone, or at least it is for me.
