This Brett Kavanaugh confirmation thing is really turning into a train wreck, isn't it?

I still don't get why the Republicans wouldn't pull the Kavanaugh nomination. Surely there are other pro-life, Federalist, right-wing judges who are not morally and ethically compromised and who would be suitable as nominees? Why him?
@JollyLily Because Trump, I'm afraid.

@JollyLily Perhaps Trump did not pull his nomination because he does not believe he is compromised morally or ethically. Did you even consider that possibility that he is not ethically compromised in any way and that this is just a smear campaign.

@Johnson212 Yes, I did consider it. And the way I view it is that this nomination and the hearing are simply for a job, not a part of a criminal proceeding. “Innocent until proven guilty isn’t a standard expected at a job interview. I can tell you that if I was interviewing someone and multiple women told me that a while back this person had sexually assaulted/harassed them, I would just hire someone else who was just as qualified but not accused by multiple women. So yeah, I don’t understand why we have to lower hiring practice standards for Supreme Court justices.

@JollyLily No, it is was simply for a job this information would have been brought out in July when the Democrats found out about it and the prospective job employee could have been asked about it during his extensive questioning about his filling that job. Instead Democratic politicians kept this information secret up until the 11 1/2 hour so they could let it out at the last minute to disrupt the proceedings.
