Chrsitine Blasey Ford - DO NOT TESTIFY MONDAY

Christine Blasey Ford has no obligation to testify in the hearing Monday. She should absolutely stand her ground that an investigation be conducted first and foremost.

Her testifying in a hearing before politicians/lawmakers is ABSOLUTELY the WRONG FORUM in which for her to speak about, assuming it to be true, such a deeply disturbing situation. What we do know is that the hearing will surely degrade into a character assassination of a woman and/or a man both of whom should be appearing and discussing the details of the event(s) that allegedly took place in front of authorities (police, FBI, whatever appropriate agency should investigate) so personal accounts can be properly documented, witnesses interviewed and versions of the events properly evaluated as to what, if anything, should be done with truth being sought and charges being filed, as appropriate.

In NO WAY should she appear, testify and answer questions by senators with political and professional (and some personal) agendas. This is NOT the time, nor place, no forum to explore what did/did not happen.

This hearing, should it happen and she testify, will be embarrassing, disturbing and degrading for everyone; Kavanaugh, Ford, Committee Members who will disgrace themselves as much as Kavanaugh and Ford and all Americans as to how we conduct ourselves and will be a complete mockery of our process, government and character.

Everyone, Republicans and Democrats, delay this confirmation and give this the appropriate attention it deserves.

Shame... shame... shame on anyone who thinks she should testify in this forum and this confirmation hearing shouldn’t be delayed.

I think she should appear, and answer questions. She's gone through the painful process of deciding to go through with the accusation. Her testimony, under oath, and his responses, under oath, could prove useful in a future impeachment hearing, as it's all under oath.

We know the President and the Senate are not going to request an investigation, but this thing has a life of its own, even post confirmation.

@Northwest Maybe it will take on more of a life of its own, but it will destroy people in the process and it won't do anything to advance anything towards impeachment.

It will be an awful process for Ford, Kavanaugh and the conservatives who will not act and speak out of respect and desire to seek the truth. With pressure from the Trump administration, the conservatives will posture and make sport of the situation in every attempt to minimize, demean and deride. And that's unacceptable.

If it so happens that she testifies, the conservatives will embarrass themselves. In other scenarios, I may be fine with that, but when it comes to sexual aggression and abuse, I have zero tolerance and I think for all intents and purposes every level of human decency, dignity and respect must be maintained, regardless of whether it's a republican or democrat in question.

@bonviveur It's already a painful process. Last night, the GOP started running a 180 second ad, during Prime Time, showing a very white looking woman, saying that she knows Kavanaugh, that she's non-partisan, doing this on her main without being pressured from anyone, and confirming that he did not rape her.

I was surprised, because my town, voted by more than 80% for Hillary, so I don't know what they hope to achieve, and because they certainly were super fast, producing this ad (I'm sure other similar ads are running nationwide).

The minute she wrote that letter, she was doomed. I still remember the Anita Hill fiasco, and how they ruined her, and sent her into hiding.

I simply want the truth to come out. After all, this guy is not running for County Fair Chair. His position will affect all of our lives, and potentially the entire world, for at least the next 40 years, and have an even longer effect than his lifetime.

I simply want the truth to come out, and this would be my position, if, for instance, Bill Clinton was nominated.

What do you think should happen next? @bonviveur

@Northwest So disappointed to hear about the ad. Yeas, I’m sure they have the same and similar ads running in all markets across the country.

Everything else you said, so perfectly stated. Thanks for sharing. I’m sometimes naively optimistic to think so many truly would like the truth in all of this. There are many who wish for the same as you, but not enough people. However, I have a general feeling and sense that we’re starting to see the scales tip back in a direction towards truth, facts and due process. It just can’t come fast enough.

Thanks again, NW!

You didn’t present a plan other than delay for an unspecified period of time. How long and what is going on during thst time please? @bonviveur
bonviveur · F
@jackjjackson The Anita Hill-Clarence Thomas investigation only took three days.

The committee keeping to their commitment of fair and balanced review and consideration of this nomination announces Friday/tomorrow the five business day (one full week) delay of confirmation hearing with the investigative report being due to the committee for review Monday, October 1st for review and consideration. On that date, the committee can move forward with the hearing and vote.

During this time, all other activity of government and elected officials will be “business as usual.”

It really isn’t that difficult and doesn’t take a lot of effort to do the right thing.

How would you feel if the investigation which at least part of the committee staff began last week continues and the committee continues to hear testimony from other witnesses and between now and then Dr Ford decides whether or not to testify and may up up until the report is completed and reviewed, all other witnesses have testified. If Dr Ford doesn’t appear to testify by then the committee votes. Sounds fair?@bonviveur

I admire your optimism :-)

I'm a bit more pessimistic. If the truth and country is all that matters, the Supreme Court would not have been a prime campaign issue. Here's what the President tweeted:
The Supreme Court is one of the main reasons I got elected President. I hope Republican Voters, and others, are watching, and studying, the Democrats Playbook
Dubya Bush, was elected thanks to a political court.

As to the can't come fast enough, I completely agree.
